Fairthorpe Electron Minors were a club racing sports car of choice for many entusiasts in the late 1950s and 1960s, with Tirumph 948 and 1147cc engines, but I cannot find any international competition history (race or rally) for these Triumph engined cars (a Climax engined Electron competed in the 1959 and 1962 Monte Carlo rallies). Can anyone help pin a period event down please? Thanks :)

I seem to remember Tony Bostock building one in a series of monthly articles in 'Car Mechanics' magazine ( he was editor) in the early 1960s.

Try www.fairthorpescc.com. This is the web site for the Fairthorpe Electron Sports Car Club. Neat cars. Brought back a lot of memories.

Good luck,

Hi chaps,

In case it's of any interest, I've linked below a pic of my father (Bostock Sr.) with a bit of detail about the Zeta. Published in the January 1962 issue of Car Mechanics.

I owned a Fairthorpe Electron Minor here in Adelaide, South Australia. A chap up at Stirling restored it I believe.

When I bought it, I was told it was a fiberglass Sprite.......and I identified it from an Eagle book of Cars.

George Thomson (an old classic car dealer) told me a chap had imported it from the UK as it looked to be

lightweight and very suitable for competition.

I obtained FIA homologation papers for my TVR Grantura Mk2A from the RAC in the UK. They have been helpful over the years

with my other exploits on my 1071cc Cooper S, Anglia Super and Falcon Sprint.

Interesting racing pictures on that link, many of them are of Fairthorpe works manager at the time John Green in his EM SBL 88, John later went on to produce the Daren sports racing cars. If you are interested in Fairthorpes take a look at my blog site at www.fairthorpe.blogspot.co.uk

It runs to a number of pages and includes many pictures both current and in period as well as restoration shots and cars for sale. The club website is at www.fairthorpescc.com

WANTED: Information on the current whereabouts of

a white Fairthorpe EM convertible, registration 5869 TW.

Triumph Herald motor.

Once owned by a member of the Chichester Motoring Club.

Last heard of in Lavant, West Sussex, circa 1975.

Believed to be still out there somewhere?

Possibly now blue?

Look in the barn!
