As well as the demo cars there are some interesting vehicles in the event proper:
Leon Bachelier in his Mirage M5 FF - one of only five built and believed to be the only surviving one in the UK
Chris Wise in his Metro 6R4
The Paul Matty Lotus cars will be partaking of the festivities on Saturday
MG Cars will be there both days
Plus a selection of very interesting Classic Race Cars including a Tecno, a Brabham, and a Merlyn.
I'll be joined in the commentary box by Jerry Sturman who only usually visits Harewood for the two BHC events.

I had forgotten how poor the original surface was . Rose tinted specs. I suppose.
There is a nice shot of Tony Brooke's 16 for David Beard.

Hope there wasn't to much damage. Oh and Whizzo spun the Elan again!

Made a first ever visit to Harewood today. Some great 60's nostalgia, only spoilt by the sight of the Felday being dropped of the flatbed truck after it ground to a halt on Peter Westbury's first run.
Hope there wasn't to much damage. Oh and Whizzo spun the Elan again!
I understand the Felday lunched the gearbox! On the driver front Whizzo really is a schoolboy at heart and with so many returning Harewood Heroes it was difficult to know where to turn next!
I did hear a rumour in the paddock of a possible historic Hillclimb Champiionship for 2013 - now that could be VERY interesting!

C Type (real or rep?)
Tecno-Lotus TC
The view from the stall was good!
Never been to Harewood before (its a 4 hour+ trip) but Steve & Lynn Owen of OMS persuaded me it would be worth the drive and it certainly was. It's a lovely venue with great views and a lot of nice people. And it's easy to find. The weather on Saturday was superb and the healthy V8 soundtrack of the two Hepworth cars (the 4wd and the Cooper) and the Felday Daimler echoing up the hillside was truly evocative. A long chat with ex British Hillclimb champions David Good and Peter Lawson was a real highlight.

C Type (real or rep?)
Geoff mansfield C-Type Replica - it is a "Toolroom copy built in New Zealand"
Tecno-Lotus TC
Peter Hamilton's tecno F3 now fitted with a TC engine. Peter spent a couple of days at Crystal Palace with the Tecno for the new RUSH film due out shortly.
I suspect that the crowds on Saturday were the biggest of the year (with the possible exception of the July British Hillclimb Championship meeting). Sunday was blighted by poor weather but the Classic demo more than made up for it until the Felday-Daimler lunched its gearbox!

ULE 164 was originally registered as a 3.4 Jaguar in 1957
It spent the night all alone in the car park next to the paddock. I thought that was being a touch brave if had been original!

The MGA is Chris Green's twin cam.
On Sunday there were a huge number of programme changes which included several extra runners, a raft of class changes and a mass of none starters & withdrawn entries. The commentary team did run through them and also mention was made of the changes and additions when the cars were on the hill. If you pop along to the Harewood website you can either download or print off a set of results which includes all the alterations.

I've now got the results & I'm sure the highly informative commentary team (excellent job by Steve & Jerry) would have mentioned them, however my memory isn't that retentive these days .........
Only my second visit to Harewood - first was in August - but a really enjoyable venue for the spectator, so expect to get back there again next year.

Same goes for me too. If the dates pan out I hope to do at least one or two events there next season. It's a long drive but worth the effort.Only my second visit to Harewood - first was in August - but a really enjoyable venue for the spectator, so expect to get back there again next year.
