I've just written a series of articles called "Spridgets of the Big (and little) Screen" for the Midget & Sprite Club's magazine "Mascot" which features cars running from "Harry O's" Austin healey Sprite through the 1960's, 70's and 80's detective and Spy series (The Sweeney, The Proffessionals, the Avengers, The Champions etc.) and additional stuff like "Magical Mystery Tour" to Donovan's "Sunshine Superman" early pro-mo which is filmed with him sitting in an MG Midget on the top of a moving car transporter.
All very Midget and Sprite specific and not in anyway motor race related, but it seems to be popular with the readers.

Was that the one with Sam Kydd as his mechanic, and the car would change between a STP March 701, and an F5000??!!

Nothing on youtube I'm afraid AFAIK. The stills of the video were sent to me by a reader, photographed off his TV while playing an old video.
There are many cars featured on TV and film here http://www.imcdb.org/ which is simply woderful to people like me (and I suspect many here too).

I'll never forget the scenes of some old Frenchman running away from some bad guys in their E-type in France, driving a Peugeot 203...

The TV show was a Pommie one, but I can't remember the title. Three 'agents' with special powers they could use... what was it called? Usually it was a pretty dud show for car stuff, but back in those days we all watched more TV, didn't we?

That sounds like 'The Champions' with Alexandria Bastedo (spelling?) as the female agent

I seem to recall a single seater car in an episode of Neighbours. I think that the father of Daphne (that's Daphne who had a baby whilst on a picnic without removing her dungarees) was a mechanic but can't remember if he was actually driving the car.

Only 63 actually Ray.

She's still acting and also runs an animal sanctuary:

Getting back to Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased), the titles featured the white Mini in which Marty was killed - from memory the registration was OGH125E. My father's Wolseley 18/85 must have been registered on the same day: OGH129E.

Jeanie Hopkirk (played by the lovely Annete Andre) also drove a basic 850 Mini, though it was red. It was featured in a Mini Magazine in the mid '90s

She also featured as the Watchmakers Daughter in the Prisoner - No.14 I think (it's one of my lottery numbers anyway!)

I remember an episode of "The Saint" where Roger Moore was driving around in a Lancia Flaminia Touring convertible. After the bad guys shot at him as he drove away, he pulled over to hide and then couldn't get the car to restart. The femme said "What's wrong?" and he answered "Who knows, it's a rental car." I got a charge out of that. I still have it on tape (from a rerun).

From some of the more car-centric series on American TV:

Nash Bridges (Don Johnson) drove a 1971 Plymouth Barracuda (although filmed with 1970 models, according to IMDb). Sonny Crockett (also Don Johnson) drove a Ferrari Daytona Spyder 365 GTS/4 replica (reportedly on a Corvette chassis) in Miami Vice.

Chief Dan Matthews (Broderick Crawford) drove at least '55 and '56 Buick Centuries and a '59 Dodge Coronet in Highway Patrol.

Car 54 was a 1961 Plymouth Fury.

K.I.T.T. (Knight Rider) was a somewhat modified (for example, with self-drive) Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am.

Jim Rockford (James Garner) drove a Firebird.

Maxwell Smart drove a Sunbeam Tiger.

Starsky and Hutch had Ford Torinos.

The General Lee was a '69 Dodge Charger.

Magnum PI drove a Ferrari 308GTS.

Marty Milner and George Maharis traveled Route 66 in a Corvette.

There must be thousands of others!

I have heard that Ferrari were so appalled by this that they lent them a Testarossa.

One of the most unusual cars must have been the Lynx Eventer that Penelope Keith drove in a short-lived series called "Sweet Sixteen".

Now to really tax your memories!

There was an early '60's British TV series called Knight Errant. Literally the only bit of this I can remember is one episode where the villain was said to drive a racing car on the road. There was a brief shot of the car which as an 11ish year old I was infuriated not to be able to identify. After the passage of time I can only remember something with a large curved perspex screen a la Ferrari TR61, Birdcage Maserati. Anyone any ideas?

I have fond memories of the ancient Oz series Homicide, with the cops hurling around the countryside in 1964 Falcon sedans, bog standard, three on the tree, body roll and no doubt drum brakes. Mods to make them into cop cars consisted of a siren mounted in the middle of the bonnet (hood for US readers). Most of each episode consisted of cars arriving and people getting out, slamming doors, and later people getting in and slamming doors.

Brief appearance by a Triumph Herald convertible - and a longer one by the rather fetching Alita Naughton - in an episode of Gideon's Way.

Blaketons Moggy Minor woodie right through the Heartbeat series. And the Morris Commercial truck. And quite a few other semi regular vehicles inc the Herald, Ginas VW convertible, the hearse and the bigwigs Roller.

The various 'Cudas are all meant to be Hemi engined models as well. Since only eleven of those were made in '71, and the yellow one is or was in the Chandler collection at the time, various small block cars were modded up to look like Hemis. If you watch the show consistently sometimes the car is a stick, sometimes an automatic.

The General Lee was a '69 Dodge Charger.

More date related trivia-quite a few '68's were used, with the grille and taillights changed out. I swear that in the first episode, the car has the round taillights, but I may be imagining that part (the General Lee does have crossed Confederate and checkered flags painted just behind the rear window, for that one episode).

Hey, hey, I thought of another one!

This one is only outdone by the Munster mobile!

I loved the Europa driven by Tara King in the Avengers.

Most of the cars in the Avengers were good, even when it became the New Avengers, Steed had the Broadspeed Jag, which he chased down Val Musetti's March in @the Three Handed Game' episode!

What a great thread this is!

Likewise phonies (and several of them, as they were prone to breakage.)

I do recall that! Sounded like a bullet ricochet.

There's another episode that deals with a road rally (I forget the title at the moment), and it naturally features a bunch of tasty vehicles. Several MG's, Triumphs, and the like. The bad guy has a big Mercedes convertible. It's the one with Emma driving a lap of Brands in a simulator thing.

The car used in the simulator had a Lotus badge on it - possibly an F2 car.

Was it a death ray, or did it shrink things? I remember a tank being made into the size of a toy, was that the same episode?
