Next to leave is Lewis?
I don´t think so, Lewis is a super-talented driver, Whitmarsh isn´t silly...!

Didn't McLaren loose any important people? I wouldn't say that. Fry, Ioannis Veloudis, , Giacomo Tortora, Lawrence Hodge, , Rupad Derek, , Jonathon Heal, Neil Martin. They all were the head of their own department.

Only when it's betterAnd that is why you can expect that Ferrari will look like McLaren. Hm should Fia investigate Ferrari if that happens?
Posted 28 January 2012 - 08:23
Yes how dare McLaren not be formed at the same time as Ferrari!!Honour is not achieved by winning. It's achieved by giving, and Ferrari has given F1 more than Mclaren could dream of.

I am wondering the significance of McLaren calling their next road car the mp4 27 as well

And that's a 'fan art' image, a 12C photoshopped with the features of the F1.

Surely though, they can match the RB tight wrapped sidepods and the moose pods didn't really give them much so why keep going down that route when you can match whatever RB do with the sidepods and close the gap? Plus the weight is lower and closer to the centre of the car. I thought that the moose pods would give them a lot of development room but it didn't really materialise in 2011.

Yep. The front looks like a mix of the McLaren F1 & the MP4-12C. The centre section looks like the McLaren F1 and the rear from that angle reminds me of the Lamborghini Gallardo.Journos confused it, that talk was about the Formula 1 race car. The next road car has no announced public name yet.

That was about the spider/convertible 12C. That's pretty much ready to be revealed soon, but regarding the P12, the hypercar, we'll get only the introduction/media reveal this year at best, what we got in 2010 with the 12C.Didn't Andy on here hint towards another car launch with the 27?

in 2011 I think force india and the (now) caterham used it.erm, the upper air take/roll-over hoop isn't that illegal? I thought the blade rollovers like the 2010 Merc was banned?
Looks interesting though¬

Ferrari werent in such a giving mood when we had to steal your blueprints!!Honour is not achieved by winning. It's achieved by giving, and Ferrari has given F1 more than Mclaren could dream of.
Im sure i read on here that teams can patent stuff, but all F1 teams have the right to be able to use that technology freely. So it protects the patent from a business viewpoint, without someone coming up with something and refusing to let any other team replicate it. It wouldnt be in the interest of the sport, so **apparently** its an FIA rule.[snip]
Then I got to thinking about Samsung and Apple's patent spats of late. It hit me that a design patent could be workable...change the car colour to Vodafone red/orange, make sure the design patent covers the general look of the winglets, register it and then take Ferrari to court. Initially McLaren could ask for a hearing to have all Ferrari's chassis impounded based on Ferrari copying McLaren's unique "look". If the hearing went in favour of Mclaren, Ferrari would be unable to race until they manufacture new chassis without the winglets or have the ban overturned.
It's a sneaky and downright devious, not mention a real barsteward way to go about it. And there's probably lots of things that would stop the ploy from working, but it's a nice daydream ;)

I apologize, this was not from Julian Petkov. It is a render of an Innovo i12 and the person originally mentioned stole the art work. My apologies.

Well, they certainly werent handed over by Ferrari to McLaren, so maybe stolen wasnt the right term but then:Quite the opposite actually. You have obviously forgotten that they were given, not stolen.

There are still some McLaren engineers that it would sign, including Tim Goss and Neil Oatley, especially the latter;)
This guy is really getting on my nerves, as if Tim Goss would leave McLaren when he has just been promoted to chief designer of EVERY car not just alternate cars. Oatley will never leave.
Posted 29 January 2012 - 09:43
GossSo did oatley design the 26 and now the 27?

Martin Whitmarsh:
"McLaren has won 20 World Championships in the 46 years it's been competing in Formula One, and that's a stupendous record by anyone's reckoning. Believe me, we fully intend to add to that tally."
I was happy that McLaren and specially this guy weren’t doing the same thing they used to do previous years and kept quiet and just were doing their jobs; but old habits reappear…
