Oh minimum 3s...remember we get worse with each year ;)

That's interesting. Are we going to be much worse?

I miss the stepped nose.

I know...

The stepped nose was not that bad IMHO - although unusual for our preprogrammed aesthetical sense it conveyed a feeling of power and sharpness.

I wonder if Ferrari will be able to get their "modesty" plate through Jo Bauer's scrutiny - after all, it does not look so modest at all....

Its just hit me...didn't Ferrari already try the slotted rear wing endplates already once before? I could swear I have seen them already.

Have to say it's the first good-looking Ferrari in a few years.

Apparently there are two windtunnels in Cologne, one built in 2001 and one built in 2007. The newer one, WT2, is used exclusively by McLaren whilst the older is shared between Ferrari and Toyota, who is developing their TS030 HYBRID there. The article says it's little wonder that Ferrari are in a hurry to get their Maranello facility up and running again.

source: www.omnicorse.it

As for Byrne, he was developing the F150, Ferrari's Enzo successor but now that that project is finished it seems like he's moving to the 2014 car.

This is a REALLY beatiful machine.

What a shame we don´t get to see cars with pre 2009 wing proportions, slick tyres, and the current slick rear bodywrok without a 1000 winglets.

That's interesting. Are we going to be much worse?

I was of course joking with reference to some of you people ringing the alarm before the car has even turned a wheel.
When you start designing the car you normally come up with certain figures that you consider to be competitive for the following season, you don't just throw in everything and see what comes out of it - it is an act of balance between many variables. It is always a positive sign when you outperform those expectations even by a tiny bit but you still can't know two things: how your data will correlate with real track behaviour and what has your competition come up with. Hence we havd winter testing and will hopefully make the most of it.
The only concern I could possibly have at present is that, very much to the intensity of last season's end, aero fell a bit behind schedule and the final version is still not finalised and in manufacturing as you want to give it the max posible time in the tunnel
This is Ferrari though and with the resources in place and if all runs smoothly until then, we should be able to get everything on the car for the final test before the season start and we could finally give it a go against others.

If Sauber is able to have very tiny sideposts, i think Ferrari must be able to do the same. I know the F2012 and perhaps the F138 feature some vertical radiators but with low and slim sideposts the airflow can pass very well at the rear of the car.

Yesterday(here in Milan), around 20:00 GMT, I spotted two very big Scuderia Ferrari trucks. Don't know where they were going.

Somehow the F138 reminds me of the F2008. But I don't know how to explain it or at all word it.

I see shades of F2008 in the F138. Perhaps it is the front nose?

I've read in some german motor site that there are some new inner bits in engine electronics area. Apparently those bits are used byFerrari already now and those bits will be from 2014 regulatory thing for all teams...Does someone know whats this all about? Cos if true that could mean big advantage for Ferrari that gets whole year to test and tweak that parts..
Here is excerpt in original

I think that McLaren already supplied the new ECU, that will also be used with 2014 engines.

Theve gone to a TAG 320 ECU instead of the mclaren 310 one, as has every team on the grid. far more powerful and flexible, in preparation of needing more control over engine and energy parameters next year.
Edit : I'm not entirely sure, but I believe the 320 is Mclaren sourced as well.

Page 9 :

As for the electronics, it is worth noting the introduction, ahead of schedule, of the single control unit that will be used in 2014. This has involved a lot of work to integrate and control all its features in terms of both software and hardware.

TAG are part of the McLaren group if I recall.

New Ferrari looks good - they seem to have a sorted and sensible car this year - looks very tidy.

It's a new updated version, anything working on the TAG310B works on the TAG320.

I think we will see a very different car come the final test and Melbourne.

In relation to the windtunnel? Is it good or bad with the tunnel we use?

One uses 50% models and the other 60%

Tombazis on the new car. Interesting Quotes.

"The launch specification car, that will run at the first test, has had a relatively small amount of wind tunnel development because it was fixed straight after the end of the season, when we pushed so late on the F2012. However, I believe we will have a strong package for the third test and first race."

So there we go. As I expected, the launch car is very very similar to the F2012 compared to what I expect the final product to be. There will be many more changes we haven't seen, especially if what Nik and Pat said is true.

Full Article

However I'm a little worried they have had so little dev time. I hope they don't have to catch up to other teams that much because they wont be having the same issues. And it relies on that package correlating perfectly at the third test.

Damn, this car is the most beautiful car since 2009. And it's not the true F138, but only a F2012C.

This car at Abu Dhabi and Singapore will be fantastic.

The new McLaren ECU is designed with the 2014 regs in mind. But has been introduced ready for 2013.

Apparently they're no longer sponsoring the team. Kosmos pointed out that they're missing from Ferrari's website as well.

That's wrong. Both tunnels are capable of 60% models, and WT1 (wind tunnel 1) is capable of full size cars. http://www.toyota-mo...wind-tunnels-en

From the picture at the top of this article you can see that the rear end looks a lot different from last year. Also they now have 6 vertical fins on top of the diffuser, something the RB8 had last year.
