I dont know about you, but I'm not one to take a Jon Pollak threat lightly. I mean have you seen where KyBu and Harvick are in the points standings? Exactly.
So I figured it's my only day off, I'm watching the Phoenix race on YouTube, why risk angering Teh Gods? Let's have a nice early thread ready for when they needses it...

Welcome to Las Vegas.

The circus is in town for two shows only! See the "daredevil" (u jelly Tony George?) drama unfold on our very first 1.5 mile event of the year.

The Matinee Show- the NASCAR Nationwide Series Sam's Town 300.
Qualifying will be held on Saturday approx 1:15pm/ET, with the race later that afternoon at around 4:45pm/ET. (ESPN2)
Entry List here.
Come One, Come All!
Cup drivers Brad Keselowski, Dale Jr. and KyBu will suit up to face off against our regulars, as will Truck Series drivers Brendan Gaughan (after party at his crib y'all) and Hatboy Jr™.
Reed Sorenson fills in for the injured Mike Annett.
We are in Sin City, so not too surprising there is no mention of The Shepherd and his Haye-Zoose Purple Challenger.

The Big Tent- the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Kobalt Tools 400.
Qualifying will be held on Friday approx 6:40pm/ET (SPEED), with the race on Sunday at around 3:00pm/ET (FOXsports)
Entry List here.
Nationwide racers Trevor Bayne and Hatboy Sr™ will roll the dice and maybe make a quick buck against the house.

What will you be eating?
Dollar shrimp. What?

Conspiracy Corner: Subway-sponsored Carl Edwards surprised everyone last week by winning in Phoenix. Until we realized the race was called the Subway Fit 500. And let us not forget which beer-sponsored car won a certain Budweiser Duel.
Similarly, the Kobalt Tools 400 will be won by the Kobalt-liveried Jimmie Johnson.
It ain't rocket science. And as you can tell by last week's predictions, I'm never wrong.

Bets, Odds, O/U's, etc.
I will leave this up to our resident expert OLB to crunch the numbers for us. However if anybody posting suffers from Restless Legs Syndrome, please don't take a pill and place a wager. You'll most likely end up walking back from Reno in your jockeys. Powerful stuff.

Enjoy the races!

Busch will win the NW race easily with Bayne as the highest regular. In his early Truck career, Piquet struggled at the 1>=mile tracks while doing well in the 1.5ers, so I expect that to translate to his NW transition. Piquet will run well at Vegas.

Jr will win the Sprint Cup race.

Reed Sorenson fills in for the injured Mike Annett.

Coming back to this, I never considered this option due to the turbulent break-up between Sorenson and Petty (Sorenson was damn near driving for free near the end) due to major stability issues three years ago. Looks like water under the bridge now. . .or Sorenson is desperate to have an opportunity in a competitive ride again.

Good for him, but lol at the people I hear saying that Sorenson could replace Annett permanently. RPM created that team personally for Annett due to his sponsor that may be used for Sprint Cup in the future, should it be for expansion or if Ambrose goes back to Australia.

I am pleased to announce that the globe trotting add buster artist Motors TV has selected Vegas for his third live appearance. He has a date, but no designated stage yet.

I'm going to pick Sam Hornish Jr as the Nationwide winner. Top form lately, even in that busted-ass Pontiac Mustang last week.
And it IS the Sam's Town 300. :drunk:

As Fox promos have it, 'Danica Patrick and Jimmy Johnson lead NASCAR to Las Vegas.'

GM914 - Johnson's win will be compensation for fixing the last restart at Phoenix, then selling mock restart disgust to the media. And Kurt Busch might make for a ideal 'feel good' pole :D

Kenseth might be due for a breakthrough one of the races.

Ha! For once it pays off to be Canadian and therefore well practiced at having to scrounge for data. 1pm Saturday for Nationwide Qualifying. http://www.wheels.ca...race-fans-1787/ (thanks to George)
grack

BTW Saturday overnight is the time change so clocks go forward at 2am. So some might miss the start of Cup unless alert.

There was no love lost between Reed Sorenson and Juan Pablo when they were teammates, if the radio transmissions were anything to go by.

My first prop bet is going to be, how many laps will hometown boy Brendan Gaughan complete in the Sam's Town race?

The figure is the number of laps -1. You choose, will be finish on the lead lap, or more than one lap down? This is a traditional over/under bet.

The second prop is also an over/under, but with a twist.

Take Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse's qualifying positions (disregard going to the back due to engine changes/backup cars). Now add them together.

Will the sum be OVER or UNDER 40?

It's not about what you win Deluxx, it's what you have to sacrifice if you lose.
Gaughan- more than one lap down
Stables- OVER.

Yes but he IS a fetching woman...So much so that the lauded French painter ManNay did a portrait of her.

That's actually the best looking image I've seen of BK.

Although he/she kinda looks like Taylor Swift.

Ok, since my friends SR388 and Watkins74 have both exclaimed displeasure at my current avatar, and we ARE in Vegas, how about a little wager?

Watkins: if Brad Keselowski finishes in a better position than Kyle Busch in the NNS Sam's Town 300, you will wear the Manet Keselowski as your avatar until the end of the Bristol weekend. (1 week)

SR388: if Brad Keselowski finishes in a better position than Jeff Gordon in the Kobalt Tools 400, you will wear the Evel Keneval Keselowski avatar until the end of the Bristol weekend. (1 week)

Whoever I lose to, I will happily wear the KyBu/Gordon avatar of their choice for the same duration.
If I lose to both, one week will be KyBu and the next week Jeff Gordon.

What say you..?

If Danica wins I will use an avatar chosen by Jp.

I got my first driver's license today at 2 months shy of 22 years old. I am now one step closer to becoming a Nascar driver, and one step further away from being an ARCA one. I think the over/under should be how many laps into the race the entire viewing population of the race is asleep, considering I doubt the new cars will make 1.5 mile tracks any more exciting.

We could have an under/over of how many laps until we go completely off-topic. Like, no one talking about the race.

I wan't to go and win some $$$$.

Right after I turned 21 (when dinosaurs roamed the earth) I hopped in the car and drove to Vegas. I had set aside a certain amount of money to gamble, I stayed in a cheap place (I think it was Circus, Circus) and went to Caesar's Palace to try my luck. I played Baccarat (a blame this on seeing too many James Bond films) and Craps. Needless to say I lost all of my gambling money in the first day, maybe even the first afternoon. This was before ATMs were around and it wasn't an easy thing to just raid your bank account for more cash. Anyway I spent the rest of the time eating cheap food in the casinos, visiting Hoover Dam and seeing some ti**y show.

No bet, I was just going through the fifty thousand or so random images I've saved on my hard drive over the years and found:

which seemed appropriate to wear for this season. I was fairly whacked out on a substance that shall remain nameless at the time I made this decision but nevertheless I stand by it.
