They'll be starting in rows of three at Pocono as well as Fontana.

Not sure about Fontana. It's dangerously similar to Michigan and we all know what happened last time they tried that.

BTW if anybody is interested, Derrick Walker did a series of Q&A on racer.com, answering fans' questions about engines, aero-kits, scheduling, race procedures... Nice read, I like this guy, and I hope things go according to plan. I don't like his stance on GWC though, I don't want to see those in IndyCar.
As for this race, I'm really excited and I think we could see a fantastic race. I hope they get the aero-spec right, so the passing is a bit harder as it was in Indy. This being the last race on ABC this year, it could also mean this is the last chance to get some more casual fans. God knows the series needs them.

Dario in a smooth all black Energizer car.
Briscoe(?) in a Team America paintjob at Panther.

Shame Munoz and Allmendinger don't have a drives for the Triple Crown. That would add something. For sure.

Its too subtle, I think this trophy needs to be more, oh I don't know, American? The founding Fathers would be so proud.

Yeah I'm a bit disappointed that there are no extra entries. These races should be hyped up, and adding some more drivers (AJ, KuBu maybe) could help with that. Hope it'll be different for Fontana.Impressive speeds. TK up there again.

There's a disappointing lack of Statue of Liberty. And the "rock" should be the shape of Mt. Rushmore. Then again we can only see the thing, not hear it. I mean, there's probably a button hidden somewhere, which, if you push it, plays the US anthem... Or THISIts too subtle, I think this trophy needs to be more, oh I don't know, American? I don't expect any extra entries. Kinda like the horse racing triple crown. Unless you manage to win the first, the other two mean nothing more than a points paying race.
Forgot about that movie yesterday until late at night. Hope people in my apartment complex didn't plan on going to bed early.

After Mattioli originally became heavily involved financially in the development of the 1,000-plus acres along Route 115 in Monroe County, he went in search of ideas about what the final product should look like.
He toured the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the people there suggested he build a standard oval with two long straightaways and four equal and minimally banked turns. Like ours, they said.
He went to Daytona, and the people there recommended three turns and high-banked corners. Like theirs.
Mattioli called on Rodger Ward, a two-time Indianapolis 500 winner, for help. They decided on a configuration with three straightaways of differing lengths and widths and three corners with differing radii and degree of banking. Some compromise.

Personally speaking, what's running aside from the 45-120 minute main event is one of the most important factors in my decision to go to a race or not. I know it's not really what NASCAR does, packing a race day with varied on-track activity, but their races are longer than Lord of the Rings.

When the weather was iffy at Milwaukee I watched the Saturday morning Indylights race on the web(and since it was running I knew the track was dry) then showed up only for the main race. I genuinely got to my seats at the end of driver intros, I think the TV coverage had started before I arrived.
The other problem is there's always such a gap between races. I think support stuff is good for people camping at like F1 races. You're already there so you might as well go check out GP2 and GP3. But showing up early and sitting around? I wouldn't bother.
When I went to Monza in 2004 we watched qualifying at Ascari and then stayed for the F3000 race. Because we needed to wait a bit for traffic to calm down so staying a few extra minutes for F3000 to start was nothing, it was the last ever race of that series, and Monza is so close to Milan there's no hurry to get home.
So I think support races have some value if you want to get in to a track early for traffic or whatever, but as a reason to attend in general? No.
On the other hand, I think a combined Grand-ALMS and Indycar weekend would be more attractive than a stand-alone of either.
My dream is Indycar, Grand-ALMS, and NASCAR Nationwide at Road America.

Dixon I think has a 10 place grid penalty from 7th.
Hope for an excellent race tomorrow, and I hope they all go safely through T1.

Would be good to see Marco win at home.
With three Andretti cars on the front row they should at least be able to avoid a Vasser-Fernandez-Herta issue. [Watching that clip I think we have conclusive proof that commentary-wise, Scott Goodyear never had it. "Well something's obviously gone wrong".]

I'm just barely able to hear it here where I am right now. But did he say that it was possibly the best grid ever seen in motor racing, just before they crashed?

And HELLO from a fine and sunny infield parking spot inside Turn2.
Time to tune in the German Grand Prix and give my greenhorn, never been to a race, crew guys the lowdown about trackside etiquette and explain to them why we are NOT at the FourSeasons hotel in Philly.
