At last (I hear you say) 1982 photos are now appearing on my Photobucket pages; starting with the March International Trophy for F2 cars and a magnificent 6 Hour Sports Car race in May. For once, the weather matched the superb entry, with rarely seen Rondeau and WM Peugeot cars having a run-out before Le Mans. Also, for once, the all-conquering, unbeatable Porsche/Ickx/Bell combination were beaten fairly and squarely into second place by the Lancia Martini spyder. If that wasn't enough, we had the first Sauber sports car, the beautiful C100 from Ford, the amazing Osella 2-litre, along with a rare glimpse of the Aston Martin Nimrod.
Because of the weather, unfortunately, there were more topless activities in the paddock between the action; which I include purely as a historical record.

Please enjoy:

Merci bien pour ca.
A Pau j'ai parle avec Tony Goodwin, pilot ancien de Ember Racing qui a conduit cette voiture. Il me dit que Beltoise aussi etait pilot (ensemble autres). Vous avez confirme son opinion

Great photos Barry, did you always stand at Druids? Did you know anything about "Dan Gurney" painted on the entrance to Druids in the late '60's? Maybe, just maybe, you saw the culprit with his paintbrush!

A few snaps from Silverstone's International Trophy meeting on June 8 1980. I was in the SDC suite, to the inside of Woodcote, and it was quite hard getting pictures that weren't dominated by marshals' backsides...

Sterling, you are correct about Tim Goss. It was probably 1969 you had in mind when TG ran a very special Lotus 3/7 1600cc and was somewhat dominant. The car was auctioned a few years ago for some very serious money IIRC - details on file here sommewhere.
Of course, in Clubmans terms, 1969 was the year in which the sublimely talented Deryck Cook utterly dominated the 1 litre class, and many times embarrassed the 1600cc runners rather somewhat, with his immaculate DRW clubmans resplendent in glorious Roman Purple, a RR colour, the car at that time in its ninth season of successful competition. Apologies, I am biased.

Wasn't the Goss Lotus known as a 7X, Roger, and wasn't it entered by Lotus Components?

My understanding is that the 7X appeared only once at the end of the 1969 season, the season to which I referred, Tim Goss being in a 3/7 prior to that. The 7X Holbay was, of course, the car which sold for the large sum which I mentioned.

SA, I wasn't at that Donny German G5 meeting, so can't comment on the RP26s I'm afraid. Instead I was on a school French trip, the highlight of which was the 1980 Borg v McEnroe Wimbledon final. Oh, and also reading MAWPs Sports 2000 mid-season review in AS on the way over the channel.

I was at the Silverstone June F2 race though, and as you say the star was Jim's B45, being hurled thru' the Woodcote chicane, chasing the foreigners in their newer and supposedly better cars. His engine was a BDX tho', not a BDA....F2 was brilliant in those days wasn't it?

Here, another pic of "Petoulet" chassing Bob Anderson in his bright green BT11.

I think the color is quiet good, perhaps a little more blue, but it was a very "light" color.

I got an answer from Jean L but while I am prepared to accept that it was Beltoise in the cockpit (he was also suggested by Tony Goodwin who drove the car in period) the date of 1st May 1973Magny Cours does not fit as it was a Tuesday. On 6th May the car was at Spa for the 1000km driven by Hine/Howllings. Any further advances please

I posted these on the British club racing thread, but it was pointed out by Mr McKinney that the BTCC probably shouldn't be described as club racing. I take his point, so post them again in case some saloon fans don't read that thread.

I know that a number of TNFers have a soft spot for Sierra Cosworths in the BTCC (Pete Fenelon included), so here are a few to revive those great days of British saloon car racing, before it finally became a demolition Derby.

I've just found some old pics I took at an Oulton Park meeting (possibly the Gold Cup meeting?) circa 1965-66. They were taken at the top of the hill following Knicker Brook (Clay Hill?)
I know the quality is lousy, but here are a couple - there are a few more to follow if they are of interest.

I think the first is Graham Hill, followed by another BRM, the second may be de Baeufort?

It is the 1963 Oulton Park Gold Cup. The first picture is of Graham Hill leading Ritchie Ginther in the two works BRMs.

The second picture is definately de Beaufort in his Porsche ahead of a Lotus 24?

The first is Jim Clark (Lotus-Climax) lapping Godin de Beaufort (Porsche).

The second is Jo Siffert in the Siffert Racing Lotus-BRM.

The third is a bit more of a puzzle. The Cooper in the foreground could be either Bruce McLaren or Tony Maggs. The car in the bcakground is Trevor Taylor in the Lotus-Climax.

I think the track in the background is the Club Circuit loop, which ran from the bottom of Cascades to link with the track after Knicker Brook. I am pretty certain that the run up to Esso was not visible from my viewpoint there.
