Super stuff, Chris. Haven't the trees grown?

But, is it me or do Belgian drivers drive rather slowly?

The first time I drove on the Continent I noticed that every slow car seemed to have a 'B' plate on the back...

If you'd ever driven on a Belgian motorway you'd know why... The saying around here is that you don't need threaded tyres when going to Belgium, because the roads are already threaded! They clearly have their priorities right - here in Germany, the governments spend millions to keep the roads in A1 condition, then spend more money to check the speed of the cars. NOT very sensible, imho... But, hey, it's our money so why should they care!

I was surprised at just how much greenery had appeared since my last visit to Spa 10 years ago Barry. At that time the inside of the corner at Stavelot was pretty much completely free of foliage whereas now the branches of pretty big trees/bushes overhang the road. None of this looks to have been deliberately planted by anyone ( unlike the trees growing on the right hand side of the road leading to Holowell )& I wonder why there's been such a growth spurt over this period whereas there seemed to be very little over the previous 23 odd years since the old circuit was last used ? Climate change ? Who knows ?

My earlier trip involved travelling on a number of Belgian 'motorways' which mainly seemed to consist of taking part in a convoy between cars 3 feet apart at 80 - 90 mph bouncing from one pothole to another for 150 miles or so. Did the wheel bearings no good whatsoever  Have to say however that they were a lot better this time around

Hoping this is not a re-run.

I get the impression from the low-key narrator we're supposed to recognize these Southern California kids playing with their GTOs at Willow and on Mulholland. My ear- and eye-coordiination doesn't allow me to meet expectations. Who are they?

Any road, I take it as evidence there are/were people richer and stupider than me, even back then.

Peter Helm was a movie actor at the time. I remember the name in a vague sort of way. The narrator mentioned Andromeda Strain, the Longest Day. The guy called Cord was descended - son of, I think - the Cord of front-wheel-drive car fame. Don't know who Mario Tassi was.

The Cord mentioned would be Chris Cord, grandson of Errett Lobban Cord of Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg. Chis Cord also did a bit of racing, primarily in IMSA.

I've got no idea which car it is. I am fairly certain it was a private entry and not a Bruce or Denny car, but I could be wrong. I am hoping to get the Monterey race up soon, and a lap of Sebring in some good ole' fashion American Iron. Glad you enjoyed it. Car guys gotta stick together! Hope I put this post in the right place.

Wow! I was only going to watch a view minutes, but I watched the whole thing. When he was dicing with the Ferrari GT, I found myself saying "Good grief", "Jeez", "What is he doing?". I wonder if he damaged something when he went up on the curb at the end...lots of liquid coming in the left side.

Must admit I was surprised that a 1960 2.8-litre sports/racer, which seemed to be fairly well driven, couldn't shake off a 1960 3-litre GT Ferrari...

Great find Les. First footage I've seen featuring the original circuit that went into Schleiz itself. Shame that the modern version is a travesty of the original ):

But still soooooooooo much better than any track designed by Herr Tilke!

This thread has become so long that I can't tell if this has been on before. It shows a very wet lap of the 'ring with a driver who knows where all the corners are. His level of commitment is pretty remarkable.

A new video from Dunhill illustrating the influence of Jaguar's XJ13 on the C-X75 concept.

Seems to me that the most successful new Jaguar designs are those that lean heavily on their design heritage - e.g. C-X16 vs XF

Is that Brian Redman's Cat at about 13:27? It crosses the track just after station 11B
It is definitely a blur with fur, but beyond that I am not sure.

Impressive ! there's opposite lock at some serious speed there, but I'm posting to say how appalled I am at the mess the local dimwits have made of the track surface with their graffiti. There has long been some, but its everywhere now.

Is it me or have a lot of trees disappeared from the Hatzenbach section in recent years? That always seemed to be heavily wooded on both sides of the road.
Conversely a lot seem to have grown up quickly at Flugplatz, which used to seen quite open yet now seems hemmed in on one side.

Here are a couple which I don't recall seeing before. Amateur video footage of Le Mans 1970 in two parts and narrated in French.

Part 1

And part deux

Pretty spectacular coverage for what I assume was just a guy with a Super 8 camera. Mind-blowing spectator access too.
