A few more from my scanning activities.
BTCC support to the 1987 Grand Prix.

Returning to the scanner!

Robert, I'll be very happy to see any more like those!
Alansart has identified all of the others- but can anyone ID the little Renault #44?
I can narrow it down a bit, but no more than that. Quite a few Renault Turbo Cup cars appeared in the BTCC over the course of the season- Roger Saunders was pretty much the only regular one to appear (he did most of the season), but the biggest contingent was at the GP- According to the result, Saunders was joined at Silverstone by Alex Postan, David Grimshaw, Niki Phillips, Les Germain and Anthony Pownall. http://homepage.mac......stone GP.html
I'm fairly sure it isn't Saunders in the pic- AFAIK his car was sponsored by Uniqueair, ran under the race numbers 43 & 45, and I think by mid-season had been progessively modified into something closer to a 'proper' Group A car than a standard R5 cup machine - I think there's a Phil Rainford pic of it at the Silverstone GP meeting somewhere back in either this thread, or one of the 80's BTCC threads from a while back.
Does anyone have the entry list from the race programme?

Are they entering the mane straight?
The feature race was probably sponsored by Network Quo a group of used charriot dealers.

Looks like Aintree, with the Williams heading off in the direction of Waterway Corner.Anyone care to hazard a guess what is going on here?

Great photo of Andrews Williams at Aintree !
Did you by chance get one of Dad leaving the pits in the orange McLaren M6B ? Unfortunately it was bitterly cold that day as I am sure you remember, we had heated the metering unit up in the paddock before we fired the car up, but once the car hit the track the cold air rushing past it seized it up before he had made it around half a lap !! He was really disappointed as he really wanted to do a few laps of the full circuit.
Cheers

For anyone that has driven on the M1 around Luton this year ...this picture will strike a chord
Wasn't it Andrew who ended up on the main road at Cholmondeley a few years ago

I have just finished reading the book "The Unfulfilled Dream: The Story of Motor Racing at Aintree" that KingsleyRob told me about ages ago. Not a bad read, but I just crave for more information, more detail, better photographs, etc., etc.
Maybe somebody else will have a bash at some point?
Incidentally, did anybody know about this - http://forums.autosp...howtopic=155017 (post #34)?

Just checked, unfortunately not- I was, as usual trying to do too many things, we were in and out in a Mini and I tried to take pictures and keep warm at the same time. It was great to go round the full circuit (even with the depicted narrow bit at Tatts) what was supposed to be an orderly parade of 13 Mini Coopers turned into a full-on blast with other cars involved too; we broke the speedo on the Railway Straight, it was registering about 110 at the time.Hi Pete

I wrote to the folks who were putting that book together, offering some photos on a pro bono basis; they did not even have the good manners to reply!Aintree - how wonderful. I loved the place - wish I had seen something (anything!) on the full circuit.

From the same 1977 meeting as the John Cooper photos, Chris Alford getting the jump on Rad Dougall at the start of a Sports 2000 round at Oulton. What a great category it was in its heyday.
Certainly one of the best of John Webb's 'formulas'.

It's the '89/90 car so I'd go with Mr Walton if not Mr Hales; can't see any whiskers.

That looks like John Webb's (the other one) Tiga SC77 behind the Lolas, Alan. I posed another odd q to Simon that last week about these cars - essentially which 3 drivers raced them that year??

The esteemed Nr Blanchard had an entry for his "Blanch 77s SC1a" at the first Oulton Sodastream round of 1977, but I've no idea whether he turned up. He doesn't appear in any other of the half-dozen programmes I have for Sports 2000 races in that year. One entry I did note, however, was for Nick Whiting in the Robinson for a Brands Hatch round. I don't remember seeing it "oop North".I do recall that Frank Blanchard entered his own car in '77 - the Blanch, or possibly Blanche - but am not sure I ever saw it actually move.

Was this an old F100 car? I am certain somebody appeared in one at some stage early in Sports 2000 - there may even have been a couple of them.

Ooh, I had a feeling it was a Royale for some reason - was it red (or, possibly, maroon) by any chance?!
EDIT: see second car down : http://www.racingcar..._description=24
But who drove it?

Mark, I have just flicked through some 1977 Oulton Park literature. There were two S2000 Royales entered during the campaign's course, an RP4 for Denny Shattuck (I assume, although the programme lists him as 'Danny') and another, chassis type unspecified, for Jack Paterson.
In which case, Simon, that's most of it solved! Wonder what Blanchard's car was based on though?

We came up with Webb and Brindley at the TNF Windmill assembly, but couldn't think of a third SC77 driver. Don't remember Lou Loushin, but suspect Tim is probably correct. I do recall that Frank Blanchard entered his own car in '77 - the Blanch, or possibly Blanche - but am not sure I ever saw it actually move.
It moved to fifth place, of six, at Brands Hatch 24 April.

The name I had in mine was Steve Harvey, who was entered in a few races that year, but I'm not sure whether he actually started any. I think he was the chap who designed the car, Tiga took the design over and produced it. So, maybe the question wasn't a completely fair one.... Sorry
I believe the Tiga Formula Ford was originally an MRE so was Harvey involved with them?

He finished 8th of 10 finishers at MP May '77, Chris so was obviously making some progress, though he was the slowest in practice... On Royales, did Peter 'Dairy Topps Yogurt' Slade run 1 too, rings a bell with me.

I hazard a guess that's later in the season. The EFDA badge has been added to his overalls and car.
I was at Zolder for the Euro FF2000 round that year and the Senna myth was already in full swing. I think it was just after the Snetterton race where he'd lost the rear brakes but still won. Everybody knew this guy was special and the feeling was that he was going to be hard to beat. Ironically the car broke down early on and Senna didn't finish.

Probably close to the spot where I helped Mark Blundell over the tyres after he crashed his FF2000 Reynard ..........only to find out he was not in the best of moods

Wandering if this one belongs in the lady drivers thread ? Does any one know who the driver might have been, photo was taken late in the season at Brands not entirely sure of the year but the photo was in the same batch as a photo of Mike Smith in his prod saloon Mobil Sierra RS Cosworth.
Relevant answers maybe used and credited in a forthcoming blog, thanking you in anticipation of your responses.
