it's certainly NGH in a Lotus 56, but this photo was taken at Mosport, Canada.

Colin Chapman obviously thought the 56 was worth persuing as he took it into F1. I don't really know why, as it was pretty hopeless on road tracks. Dave Walker did well in the wet at Zandvoort before he fell off and Monza and Silverstone were possibly more suitable, but can you imagine trying to drive it around Monaco?!

whilst attending the indy 500 a few years back, either vince or andy granatelli, can't remember which, took a 56 on a demo lap as part of the pre-race festivities. quite a site and quite a unique sound.

Pretty hopeless on road tracks...?

Unlucky maybe.

In qualifying for the 1968 Mosport USAC race, Hill had set a time that was good enough for outside pole before falling off the road on someone else's oil.

At Castle Rock, Art Pollard finished 5th. Joe Leonard was 8th.

At IRP, Leonard qualified 2nd and led the race, but was a DNF after a crashing a curb.

At Riverside, Leonard qualified 3rd and was running a steady 5th before handing the car over to Andretti, who then crashed it.

Has anyone noticed on John-w's model page - top left, STP Turbine - 'OIL TREATWENT'?

The way the model is lettered and laid out on the drivers left side is so different from the actual car, it is of little consequence that the spelling is off too. B²

With the view that - if you are going to screw it up you may as completely screw it up - I'm with you Brian! :D
