Maintenant, pour tout autre chose ......
Question for those much wiser, " Has anyone seen work signed , Basil ?" This afternoon I unearthed a simple cut away line drawing of the Rob Walker/Brooke Bond Oxo Lotus 72. As soon as I can get my coal fired scanner operational, I'll post it. Until then, you get the question.

Apres le rouge, le blanc et le bleu...cue the National Anthem of Cutawayland!Allez pas la, mes enfants, sort du pinard et une baguette avec des cornichons...on y parlera des zingues plus tard, apres le rouge...

'Twas about time I threw caution to the wind, copyrightwise, and posted a scan of someone else's work: A very nice, high-quality cutaway of the Opel Ascona 400 by Technical Art, by L. Ebert (or is it Eberl?) proving that Norbert Schäfer wasn't the only artist there:
Must admit, though, I'm not too keen on the dark, almost black background.

Marc, old boy, night runner or whatever in french - I hope I'll never have to regret having set this thread on its uncharted course!
BTW, I think that 'unidintified' 1985 McLaren is indeed the work of J.J. Francois (sorry, can't find the cedilla on my keyboard...)

Hello Anders, nice to know you are still with us! I had forgotten all about that Datsun Violet, but it was that, I think, that tempted Nissan to commission the R89C and then the Sunny GTiR, for which I also designed the colour scheme. It was slightly annoying that I had to cut away so much of 'my' colour scheme to show the internals!

Here is the Maserati Ghibli by Bruno Betti.
The gas tanks are also on both sides at the rear.
Italian common practice at this time?
Ibsen
I think not only Italian...I used to have an Opel Kadett of the B generation, which also had the fuel tank inside the rear wing/fender.

It also makes me wonder if there ever was an RT1 cutaway?
(...ooooooh - I feel a new thread is coming up - along the lines of "I wish I'd designed the...")
Marc, Alt135 gave me nothing on my keyboard - perhaps its because we Danes have got æ, ø and å as permanent keys?

It probably depends on keyboard setup, mine is set on United States(International)
so I can get most special language glyphs æ and å
hahah I even have a Tony Matthews ™â„¢

Jaguar SS100. I say, Gwendolyn, fancy a spin with the top down?
Tony dear, much as I would love a drive in your lovely motorcar, I hardly think it fitting to disrobe, however balmy the evening, and with the soreness from the conflagration no longer a problem. It is a jape for the young, and whilst I may have enjoyed the occasional 'parade' sans bustier in the Hispano Suiza, the firmer springing of your Jaguar, accompanied by the less-firm condition of my embonpoint means I must reluctantly decline.
No, Gwendolyn, I meant the hood.

Alt135 works for me - ç - just like that, but only if I use the number pad on the right of the keyboard. Nothing happens if I use the numbers along the top.
if these things don't work or you are stuck with a strange keyboard layout for some reason, you may use this site: http://www.copypastecharacter.com/ It is simply a page with a lot of characters you can copy and paste into your post.

I believe I've seen a RALT RT3 cutaway in 1983, possibly by Technical Art, as it was in John Nielsen's Volkswagen livery. Anybody got it?
I also remember this, I am pretty sure I have it (somewhere!) in a period VW magazine.
I can look it up, if somebody does not beat me to it...

Scanned, spliced and colour filled here and there. it is a red one !!! Colouring courtesy of Road&Track

In fact is it Lotus 56. Lotus 64 raced in 1968 year and was fitted with Ford V8 engine.
But cutaway is really nice, thanks macoran.

Thanks for the compliments. The camera was a Canon A540, 6 Mp using the Macro setting. I took them outdoors with a little sunlight.
I have been given a set of R & T's from 1957 to 1978, and evry now and then there are cutaways. There are several that Shell has used in their advertising.

little sunlight. yes ...and don't lean over too far to project your own shadow on the subject
note for next pics Robin.....flatten magazine as much as possible, and take piccie with centre divide as vertical as possible !
have been given ....ooooooooooooooooooohhhh !!!!!!
there are cutaways........yes yes yes goodie goodie
Shell used James Allington's Ferrari P4, Chapparal 2F and Ford MkIV in the Road&Tracks ads
can you imagine the set of 3 was available from Shell USA for $ 1.00 in 1968 ???
edit to tell you I am already trying to muck up Theo Page's Ford 3L into a full cutaway

That's odd - it definitely looks unfinished, did the Mystery Illustrator give up? Was he beaten by a deadline? You can see blank areas that were destined for more detail... Odd. The line-work reminds me of another cutaway, posted on this thread, but I haven't time at the moment to go through earlier pages. Who did the McLaren M6 Indycar?

I had the magazine under a weight all night trying to flatten it, but not very successfully. I wish that I had an 11" x 17" scanner, but I think that I know of a photo copier that can send copies by E mail.
Here are scans of two smaller drawings:

I tried the photo copier E mail thing, but finished up witha TIFF file, which Image Shack treated mysteriously, so I photographed a photo copy on 11"x17''paper of the Chapparal 2F.
Robin you can save the photo to a file, then go into the name and change the .TIFF to .jpg
Else open the scan in paint, and then click save as, then click the jpeg;jpg in the drop down menu.
Good piccie !
