250 GTO - 50th Anniversary - related events

I wasn't too sure which forum this thread suited - I've opted for here.

I don’t want a rehash of the arguments about their price and worth but I am keen to attend an event in 2012 celebrating 50 years since the 250 GTO was introduced. I was all set to attend the Goodwood Revival (Sept) in anticipation of a good field starting in the TT but I have just read that 20-25 owners have agreed to attend the Pebble Beach Concours d’ elegance in August that year. The short time interval may mean few make it to Goodwood, however, as most are treated like museum pieces there may be no more than the usual starters at Goodwood anyway. Though static displays are not my thing I would be keen to read any Pebble Beach experiences.

Travelling from Oz this is an expensive exercise – in more ways than one as ‘the other half’ wants to come along – so I would appreciate information from anyone with suggestions for a likely enjoyable 250 GTO experience anywhere in 2012. Thanks
