Very good. I've stayed in both.
Out of preference I'd go with the official Silverstone campsite as it's a LOT closer to the entrance. It had proper portakabin type toilets and showers for last years MotoGP ( this year I think they're supposed to be hard standing ones). Entertainment was really good - very large screen and there was live music as well.
The lively part of the campsite was very lively! - fortunately I was in the quiet part, but even that was quite noisy, as you could still hear the live entertainment till midnight :)

Condor, have you ever stayed at Litchlake? If you have, would you say that is livelier than the official camping bit?

Litchlake has to be done at least once. It used to be my place of choice. Nowadays I prefer things a little quieter

Always do Litchlake. We always go by the Force India factory. By the ditch/hedge.

Probably! :rotfl:

Although last year, there were over zealous stewards. And they were mostly Wednesday fans and a bigger police presence. And seen as I didn't fancy getting arrested. We did turn it down....... For a while.

I've stayed at Litchlake a few times but only for the F1 GP where it was £25 a night. It's done on a first come first served principal so the first arrivals are likely to be in the noisiest part ( closest to the track, fairground, food trucks, market stalls etc.) By Thursday late afternoon the campsite had already spread down to the 2nd/3rd fields so was quieter then.
I recollect that Litchlake for last years Silverstone Classic was £10 a night - which is fair enough.

Since the official site was created, I would think that Litchlake would have to reduce their prices to compete.
MotoGp is £35 for the whole weekend at the official site for comparison purposes.

Yeah, that is a problem with that place. We get there on Thursday so it's very expensive to sleep on a field. Saying that. I chuck my mate out and he walks round while I drive in. Half price that way. :rotfl:

Edit: Just been on their website. It's now £45 for the whole weekend.

Be careful where you pitch up. At last year's GP my mate and I were right beside a path and ended up getting covered in dust every time a car traveling more than 5mph drove past!

Not nice :well:

Hi All

I stayed at Woodlands last year and thought it was excellent!! It's the only time I have camped at Silverstone so can't comment on the other sites. As one of the other guys on here said there will be purpose built shower and toilet blocks this year which will be an improvement on what I though was already a good place to camp. Loved the live music and the atmosphere was brilliant. The big screen showed the World Cup Final on Sunday. Eddie Jordan took a visit to Woodlands and proceeded to wind everyone up with some tongue in cheek comments before playing the drums in his band. I'm all booked up for Woodlands again this year and can't wait to go again even if it is with the Mrs this time around!!! I've set up a page on Facebook for camping at Silverstone for people to post pictures, videos and comment etc. so please take a look and join if you are interested!! Oh as for the noise at 2am, we might have had a hand in that too (Sorry) :drunk: Click Here For My Facebook Page
