Bad adverts served in USA - explanation

It's come to my attention that, in the USA only, AUTOSPORT.com is currently being served by two or three network ads that massively contravene our brand guidelines. In other words, automatic pop-ups or expanders are appearing that cannot be switched off. Worse, they bombard you with automatic sound and loud music.
If you have been affected by these, we apologise profusely. I have instructed our network agencies in the USA to find these offensive ads and remove them from the system.
If the agencies fail to do so by 5pm on Monday, we will be switching all network ads off in the USA and finding new suppliers of adverts to fill our inventory.
We take this very seriously indeed and recognise that it interferes with your reading and how you interact with the site. In the future, if ads like these slip through the net again, please do let us know on this forum and we will react quickly and decisively to remove them.
Best wishes
Jim

I'm not in the USA, in the Canaries, but I'm being subjected to this rubbish today. There are Spanish adverts for Lufthansa, L'oreal and some gaming nonsense.

Will look into it... Can you confirm whether they are auto-play / pop-ups / expanders etc?

Please excuse my obvious ignorance, I don't have a clue as to what I'm being asked. I have pop ups blocked and I run Kaspersky internet security which supposedly filters this but doesn't.Will look into it... Can you confirm whether they are auto-play / pop-ups / expanders etc?

So how much did you win ? What happened when you clicked the link ?I've got an ad that doesn't pop out or expand, but it verbally shouts "Congratulations! You've won!", tells me visually that I'm the 10,000th visitor, and assaults me with seizure-inducing flashing colors. I've seen it for a couple days now.

I never got a chance to click it. By the time my seizure stopped, there was a different ad in its place. So how much did you win ? What happened when you clicked the link ?

I'm getting that popup every time I open a page, at least I can close it not like the annoying ones that give you a false close 'X' in the top right hand corner and when you click on it that opens their page.
Bloody annoying though. (I'm in China).
After saying that just before this one started up http://qn.163.com/2011/home/ and this bastard has one of those fake close buttons

If you aren't already doing so, always use Alt+F4 to close pop-up adverts. Pressing Alt+F4 will close your current browsing session--you won't have to click on the ads in order to get them off of your screen. Massively useful in preventing unwanted ads from invading/possibly infecting your computer. If the ad isn't at the front of your screen, pull it up by clicking it on the taskbar or right click its button on the taskbar and hit "Close".http://www.24quan.com/cd.html

If you're using a Mac, though, I'm afraid I can't help you.
