hi

has anyone got any pics of the yamaha f2 racers or their specs

i have some spare tz bits, a 350lc motor and a drs frame (i think) i was thinking of putting together.

Had a quick look at what I had and only found this, probably not even a F2 bike in the shot but I took the pic and its worth sticking up as a WWW anyways.

Great shot of Arnies bike Mick and I was fortunate to see Graeme win his first TT on it in 84.

Well , Brendan , that's a great shot of Mr Head , with the Yam in my colours !!!!! anybody else got the red/gold colour scheme pics , from the side ??

Whilst i am on, do any of you reconise the frame or what it is for, i suspect it to be a drs but cant find any markings on it








I put some spare tz cases in for size, they nearly fit but the rear mount is too big, is an LC one smaller

I would say probably 1983 , give or take a few months ....................................

Looks like DRS work but interesting to note it has the front tank mount cups for an earlier TZ D/E tank.

Slightly off topic but writing this i've just remembered a guy back in the late 70's (cant remember his name) but I parked next to him at Cadwell once or twice and he had an alloy framed TZ250 which I'm sure he told me was built by Terry (Shep) I cant remember much about it but I think it had a cast main spar.

If you are following this thread Terry was it one of your creations?

Looks like a Spondon...could be wrong though, their frames were either stamped or had a plate on the headstock, the number beginning with SPE....etc.

I think the LC rear mount on the cases was a wider double lug affair, it looked similar in layout to the lugs on your frame, which means an LC mounting would collide with the lugs on your frame unless some form of mounting plates were used.

my friend raced one and i don't think i've ever seen another

Nice shot, the lad I met at Cadwell wasnt Graham, but I do remember Graham for the tragic reason that I witnessed his accident at Scarborough.

My brother had one. He bought it from someone near Brands in late 1980 I think it was. He sold the 350TZ engine and fitted an RD400 with a Fahron 430cc watercooled conversion in it. I think the main reason for this was that maintenance/regular replacement of parts was cheaper than keeping the TZ engine in it. He raced it in 1981, I can't remember why he stopped riding it but the next year the classic scene had really taken off and he started racing his Commando again.

My other brother raced it in 1982 and was just starting to make some headway on it when he crashed at Brands and broke his leg and hand and stopped racing. It was then sold to a friend, Mark Watts who had some success on it, I think he won the Bantam Club 2 stroke championship on it in 1983 or 84. I believe it was later sold to someone who intended to convert it to road use.

The name CAMBER came from Dave Camier, Alex McFadzean and Chris Bladon who all had input into the frame.

Here is a different angle of a Manchester F2. It had either a Spondon or DRS frame much like the frame that is pictured in this thread.

They were great to ride and were competitive in the 350 class too. Robin Church who developed the engine from the LC 350 was brilliant.

Yes it is with pilot with broken collarbone after falling of FZ750 at Glen Helen during practice! More mentioned of that on another thread. A F2 bike can be made into a wonderful looking machine and I just might do that myself with a Manchester engine as I have all the bits somewhere except for the wheels!
