Hi, How did you shrunk the picture? I also have the same problem when I post a picture. Thanks

Hi Tonecas,I use Photobucket as I was already on this for the Jaguar Model Club. On there you have to resize the picture in your album first, then repost on to a forum etc. I've gone too small now, wanted about half the size I had,but these things are frustrating to use!

More Jaguars as requested!

The larger pictures show up any faults as they bigger than the actual models themselves.

I don't post pictures. How to do so is explained Here on the main forum if using Image shack. The discussion on the thread covers most difficulties people have had.

Is a 1/34 kit welcome here?

Just finished this one. The Revell kit.

Are you sure about a scale of 1:34? Traditionally it's 1:32 (3/8 of an inch to a foot)

A nice model. Is it a traditional Revell plastic kit? Or are they now making metal kits?

Yes, you are correct, it is a 1/32. My eyes are still strained from the tiny parts. And it is the plastic kit, not metal.

Not the best kit many say, but the only AU I have so I was glad to get it.

Now, on to my Tyrrell P34. It's a 1/20 kit so I'll only need my glasses, not glasses and magnifying glass.

I just finished the short tail Porsche 917/10 of Vasek Polak (the white and blue) and the Jagermeister Porsche 917/30 s/n:001 both were made from a "Solido" #18 base by cutting and filling with epoxy to get the right shape.
Now I believe I have the 4 configurations of the Porsche 917-10 and -30 as depicted in the picture...

The answer regarding the '62 Monaco Cooper is, I think, no. However, I have a part built kit of this car and one of these fine days, I'm going to finish the blooming thing. :)

Right! Will it be ready in time for the Monaco Historic in May? (No pressure!) It will be fifty years since McLaren won the 1962 race! If you finish it and bring it along, I'll bring along some photos from the Langton-Adams collection or a book with some photos in. I wonder if any of Bruce McLaren's family will be there. It would be cool to present them with something like this...or I could buy the model from you :) Here is one of the photos:

Hi everybody
Does anyone know if there is a model of a Mercedes-Benz C280 (2001 -2006) in 1/43 scale?
Any help is apreciated.

Hi Tonecas,I should think that only Minichamps have made this actual model. Last week I got given a brochure for Mecedes models, but this went in the recycling bin. They have a website too, Merc Models? Wish I had seen this question last weekend!

Hi, I finally found one made by Schuco (ref.: B66960307) in Bologna, Italy for 28 euros plus S&H (not bad).
The model is fairly good and the silver is exactely the color I wanted, only the lower grid is different from the one in Canada.
Here is the picture:

Hello
I've received 2 tameo kits recently - here is the 85 Zakspeed in the West livery and the diorama settings that I'm planning to make out.

The whole process will take a while to be completed and I'll also need to figure out how to print my own 1:43 decals for the mechanic's shirts.

See if you like this setup :)

The Marsh kits are both relatively recent releases and current production and are readily available to order.

Kaiser made some interesting stuff back in the day. Not sure if he;s still going, we lost contact many years ago when I still had hair. The Kaiser kits were pretty basic but the shapes were good and they built decent enough models for the time.

I finally finished an adventure that started some time ago and I would like to share with all in this forum.
I took the challenge of converting a Nurburgring Chaparral 2D 1966 made by Minichamps(436 661407) into a 2D that raced in the 1967 Sebring 12 hrs driven by Bruce Jennings and Bob Johnson that dnf due to ignition failure after 128 laps finishing 41st OA. This was the last race of the beautiful 2D after putting a 7Liter engine in it.

Changes included:

In the front:
1 - Cut the front just below the edge as the intake is much bigger due to cooling requirements for such bigger engine.
2 - Make (using aluminium sheet metal) the lower end of the radiator intake as well as the 2 intakes to cool the front brakes and paint it black.
3 - Add 2 air deflectors in front of the front fenders.
4 - Close the 2 openings in the front used for the 3rd and 4th headlights. Cover the headlights with white decal.
5 - Remove the periscope mirror.

Under the hood:
1 - Reroute (widening) the 2 exhaust pipes and mufflers.
2 - Add the oil tank and the pipe with cover all the way up to the opening in the wood.
3 - Add in the left side a transmission oil tank.

In the rear:
1 - Open top of the left rear fender.
2 - Increase the inlet and open the top in the right rear fender.
3 - Open round hole to access the oil refill pipe.
4 - Install air deflector all across the rear edge.
5 - Open holes to pass exhaust pipes.
6 - Make (using aluminium sheet metal) the rectangular box to suck the air from the engine compartment.
7 - Relocate the inboard rear lights under the outboard ones.
8 - Paint the central rear area black and remove the license plate.

The next 3 picture depicts the final result, which due to the under the hood detail I prefer to the Marsh that does not have it. Also it cost me $71.83 instead of the $284.91 that the MM62 costs.

Hi everybody, I just received an email from a friend with a beautiful story, that shows the dedication to a job done to the highest level of perfection and that took many years of dedication. All must applaud Mr. Louis Chenot for having accomplished such a task. It is the functioning miniature 1/6 replica of a 1932 Duesenberg built by Louis Chenot.
This incredibly detailed 1932 SJ Duesenberg LaGrande dual-cowl phaeton. Not only does it look good, but the engine runs, the lights work, the top mechanism functions and the transmission and driveline are complete. Lou started his research on this project over fifty years ago with the purchase of a book and through the following years collected many drawings and studied a number of Duesenbergs while they were being restored, taking photos and recording dimensions.
His work can be seen at:

http://www.craftsman....com/chenot.htm

To be enjoyed by all people dedicated to model buildiing (and not only).

Hi everybody, I just finished another project that I am eager to share with all of you in this Forum.

I bought this M.A. Scale ref.143 which was supposed to be a model of the Chaparral 2A that raced in Sebring in 1965; but as I already had that car (a Proline kit) and what I was missing was one of the 1964 Chaparral’s with the exhausts leaving from top of the rear cowling and then routed to the rear end of the car.
I decided to roll-up my sleeves and go to work…
And this is what I did/modified seen just before painting
Posted Image

Then after painting and decaling this is the final result

Posted Image

Posted Image

As a final note I can add that this M.A. model kit was a real pain to get it into shape as the whole resin casting finishing was very rough, with openings closed and with lots of what I call casting “polyps”. But with lots of patience and time IT’S DONE!

I bought this K & R Replicas kit years ago but only yesterday decided it was time to build it.

Posted Image

I found the rear number decals were very thin and began to break up so I made some new ones on my vinyl cutter. The font is a bit heavy but I can live with it. The kit came without windscreen so I had to make one.

The photo makes the green look brighter than it actually is. I used my standard works Cooper green.

Hi everybody
I bought this Ferrari 612 Can-Am made by Mebetoys Ref. 6601 that looks more like a toy than a 1/43 model. Now the chalenge is to make it as close as possible to an expensive "Red Line" 1/43 model.
I just post it in my Blog "Modifications of 1:43 models" and here is the link:
http://143modelcolle.../08/visits.html
I realize that it did not raise to the level of Red Line moodel but at 20% of the cost is close enough and opens the doors, the rear cowling and the front aerodynamic spoiler. I am happy :rotfl:

Hello, just noticed this message.

the kits are built by professional builder in Asia, and i completed the diorama myself by designing / making the background label and the mechanics are painted by myself as well.

I used to think I could build 1:43 kits well enough - I was wrong, I just can't do them justice.

So I'm selling this one to start with.

Haven't contributed to this thread since November 2011 when I bemoaned the cost of Minichamps models - and now they've gone up in price again, with a recommended retail price of £59.99!

That's approximately a 250% increase in price in just five years. Not bad going...

There is a good picture of an MA kit further up the page by Tonecas, the Chaparral 2A. Let's just say they are a bit rough but to be honest I haven't seen a single seat car model of theirs in the flesh. I have been tempted by the Peugeot myself. You should go for it as no one else makes those cars and they do look good on their website.

UK prices for Spark, Minichamps etc have been out of alignment with the rest of the world for some time due to a combination of exchange rates, VAT and (my assumption) greedy distributors. 1:43 Minichamps F1 cars are available from the US for a RRP of US$ 68.99 or ~£45.50. Yes, international prices have risen in 5 years, but nowhere near as much as in the UK.

If you're in the UK, check out RCS Models. They've decided they can no longer compete internationally for the reasons outline above so are closing down and clearing most of their Spark F1 and Le Mans models for £25 (I'm in no way affiliated with RCS other than being a satisfied customer) :

I only buy on eBay because there some time we get reasonable deals. I try to buy only Minichamps because they are made of Zamac. Some time ago an Abarth made of resin by Spark escaped from my hand felt on the floor and broke into several pieces, from there on I avoid the resin as the "plague".

I only buy on eBay because there some time we get reasonable deals. I try to buy only Minichamps because they are made of Zamac. Some time ago an Abarth made of resin by Spark escaped from my hand felt on the floor and broke into several pieces, from there on I avoid the resin as the "plague".

Hey! Don't take it out on resin because you dropped it! Model cars rarely like that sort of thing.

That is correct but if it was made of Zamac I am sure I would still have it, nevertheless I still have to clean them at least once a year as there are always some dust that go into the display and that's when accidents happen. Still on the price question, it is painful to see a $60 piece shattered into pieces, today's models are not cheap.
