In light of tomorrow being Dan Gurney's birthday, I thought I would share photos of my collection of models of cars that he drove in his career.

http://public.fotki..../gurney-models/

Right now there are over 80 models in all different scales, some diecasts, factory builds, and many self-made from kits or modified from diecasts; there are another 20 or so waiting to be built. I have to thank Barry Boor for connecting me years ago to TNF, and the greatest appreciation to Dan and Evi Gurney for their help with information on the cars. Happy 80th to Dan, and hopes for many more.

Love the P.48 but... pity about the colour! :)

Something tells me the 1958 Ferrari should be upside down.

What a brilliant collection!

A very nice collection of a great drivers cars.

This is a slot car I built this year of Dan's car from Reims 1960. For the record I sprayed it in "Boor BRM" aka Maserati Rifle Grey

Barry- valid points both...

the P.48 was an old Circuit Series model I bought already built. I am planning to buy the new SMTS kit and do the car properly.

As for the 1958 Ferrari it would be more fitting given its history. Maybe one day I will start doing dioramas.

Thanks to all for the compliments; I have spent almost as much time digging for research photos as I have in assembling the models.

Currently on the bench:
the 1958 LeMans 250 TR
the Bryden-Brown Lotus 18 (SMTS kit)
the Seidel-owned Lotus 24 from Spa 1962 (SMTS kit to replace the very basic John Day model)

The 19B from Mosport in June 1964? That one will take me a while to do...the fine detail pin stripes are waaaaay beyond my ability to create.

Were you involved with that car?

Not at all, but it is in my files for the new slot car history book I am almost finished with... :)

That's a wonderful collection you have - I really enjoyed browsing through it - especially those glorious Eagles - the sight of those really set the heart beating,
Many Thanks for posting,
Cheers,
Paul
