Brilliant!

I've seen his 2010 Review before.

It's so refreshing when you find out someone out there saw the same race as you ;)

It could also be refresing when someone out there saw another race as 1 millions other saw... I think reviews are often flogging the same, dead horse...

He made some good points, but no more than that. The voice and video are annoying.

Nice idea, but he has the tendency to complain about almost everything, and in that, is wrong a couple of times.

I'll take your word that it's funny, because I couldn't make it past the ten second barrier listening to his monotone drawl.

Found it entertaining and amusing, reminded me of a Charlie Brooker like presentation. Hope he does more.

(although I will admit his voice grated a bit, but you cannot have everything)

While the guy has a solid view on F1 his videos aren't very funny. As he said in video two "Trying to rip off Yahtzee", but failing.

I also have an account here, but I didn't post the video here because I thought it would break the Autosport forum rules about promoting your own material. Planet F1's forum didn't have that exception.

Thanks for the feedback from everyone - both positive and negative; I appreciate that the videos are not polished yet, and take on board the comments about my voice and the similarities to Zero Punctuation. The first two videos were hampered by a poor quality microphone, the latest video I used a proper headset and the sound should be a lot better. While I was inspired by ZP, and consequently why I paid tribute to Yahtzee in the Australian GP video, he didn't invent this sort of video. As someone pointed out, Yahtzee was inspired by Charlie Brooker - and both of those a Computer games journalists.

I am using the format for F1 race analyses; and while Yahtzee's hooks are savagely ripping apart games/fanboys as well as garnishing his reviews with a lot of swearing and crude analogies. Hopefully my reviews are different to that - while I do have analogies, every video of this kind will have - the visual medium lends itself to it; these are essentially extreme powerpoint presentations.

However, I do appreciate that they are far from perfect yet, but I have only just started doing them. So far they have taken me over ten hours each to put together, which has led to me rushing them towards the end to get them out. As I get better, both with the writing, the speaking and putting together the images the quality will hopefully improve significantly, and they will take me less time to put together.

It was because Heidfeld replaced Pedro de la Rosa with 5 races to go in the season.

I liked them a lot. I'm a big fan of Yahtzee's videos and I think you did a good job of transferring the format to F1.

Two tips though:

1. Try to improve the sound quality as I think a lot of people might be unable to stand it.

2. Try to keep a steadier pace when you talk. I don't think you should slow down since I like the fast flurry of words, but it gets choppy at times.

Keep up the good work! :)

I don’t think he’ll be covering F1 anytime soon and these are a pretty good attempt,

Bah, a follow Yahtzee and his videos so I've been spoilt. These ones, while a good idea in theory, just fall short and lack the uber-cynical criticisms of the original that gives it the charm. They're also too long. Some good analogies though.

Hmm a blatant rip off of Yahtzee's Zero-Punctuation format yet without any charisma and there only being 1 or 2 funny jokes.

I cringed when he done the pauses for the donkey skit.

Shockingly bad.

Watch Yahtzee to see how you really hammer home criticism with whit.

Apologies, it appears you have credited Yahtzee in the initial review.

Constructive criticism though, you had zero charisma.

The idea is to deliver the jokes quick and fast.

Obviously you scripted it first hand before reading it out. All you do is read it quicker and then cut it up in a media editor so that your breathing gaps are non existent.

Have you tried speeding your speech up?

I don't think he fails. You can also trace Zero punctation to various sources for that matter. Humor is much to do with attitude and I think that those who watched for instance the Malaysia GP review before the 2010 review has a better attitude towards the guy. He has improved.

I do not think I laughed though.

Well not just this forum, if nobody dislikes what you do then it means only your mother is watching your YouTube channel.

But I am serious about being thankful about the positive and negative feedback - bar people who just hate for the sake of it, even in the most colourful rant of disapproval there will be some constructive criticism from which you can learn where to improve, so long as it isn't to the detriment of your existing audience.

Thank you for watching a second a video after the review of the first ;)

When I did the Australian GP - which is the fastest of the three videos - I did try to edit out the pauses for breath a lot more. However for Malaysia I got a new microphone which has much better sound quality and makes edits far more noticeable. However, while I do have a lot of experience using Soundforge for tasks, strangely doing something as simple as this is still quite new to me - although it is more down to the logistical/organisation of it. I need to write and record thinking of how I am going to edit it. I also need to learn the best way of getting the most out of my microphone.

However, I don't want to necessarily speed it up too much and be exactly like Zero Punctuation - after all - that is essentially it's trademark, it's how it got its name.

And using a limiter/compressor plus frequency filtering or/and decent sound recording hardware would've helped.

The first two were recorded on the dictaphone on my phone. The latest one was with a headset I bought that is meant to be good for podcasts, although there is a slight fault which is resulting in a very slight fuzzy on the recording channel. I am sending them back to be replaced, although not until after I have recorded the Chinese GP. I do have a friend who has a proper recording studio he said I could use any time. Maybe I'll try that out.

This guy is simply brilliant. I would surely add all his reviews to my website.

Thanks! My name is Ben Dickson, there are credits at the end of the Malaysian GP review if you need to get in touch.
