It was (still is) a dilemma choosing which day to go, but on balance I thought 1000km’ for pre-72 sports-racing cars just edged it.
Does anyone know whether the facilities will have been improved (well, provided actually !) since the HSCC in early April ?

Seating has gone up on the exit of the new reversed chicane and similarily opposite the pits but don't expect too much. I think it should all be ok.

Anyone willing to act as ORC's "agent" and ask some questions of the F2 guys?

I was intending to go but I've done my foot in again (my doctor is yet to explain how I can have identical injuries in four of the last five Aprils!!) so I will have to miss it.
Anyone willing to act as ORC's "agent" and ask some questions of the F2 guys?
No problem Allen. I'm there from tomorrow morning until Monday so I should be able to find the time to help you! e-mail me, you should have my address.

Sorry you can't be there. Ted will no doubt correct me if I am wrong but I believe it is the best ever Historic Formula Two grid.
Hope you will be fit for the first Martini Trophy race next month.

Shots like this can be taken through the fencing at the chicane. Last time I was there :-

I'm sorry too Chris. It's a really baffling injury because it arrives so predictably in April, regardless of the weather and regardless of what I get up to. I'm hoping to be fit again in a couple of weeks and would be gutted if I missed Silverstone.Allen,

Rock on!!
Er, right on Keith! I presume that means that you got your tickets? That's the first communication anyone appears to have had with the organisers!
Facebook tells me that you are rolling out of Halifax today to make it to Donington for lunchtime tomorrow? I'd think about changing your car if I was you mate!

Trade area is opposite pits. Setting up Friday lunchtime
On the infield? You may have to cross the track then to visit the little boy's room.

BTW - popped in to the circuit office on the 10th March and sorted tickets out. Have confirmed by e-mail this afternoon that I can pick them up on arrival. Also, I have read that anyone buying a weekend ticket (£30) will get a bogof into the collection . So....Friday I will be visiting the collection

I will be there Friday to Sunday with my red-and-blue Alfa GTA, race number 84, in the U2TC race, sharing with James Wiseman (and later in the pre-63 sharing James's Alfa Sprint Zagato - lovely-looking car !).
Happy to welcome any TNFer walking by ....
Great grids and a good initial start for this meeting.

Went yesterday for F2 test. Lots going on. Trade area opp pits looks good.Come and say hello
Helped set Ted up this morning in dull and chilly conditions after spending the night camped next door to the circuit at the Donington Park Hotel. Major panic at 4am when we awoke with a duck in the tent I kid you not! After knocking the milk over and making a rather unpleasant mess in it's shock at meeting Mr & Mrs Giraffe, it left in something of a hurry as soon as we ushered it to the door!
We could have done with a drop of rain to keep the circuit dust down, but all we got was the odd shower in the night.
Since this morning it's brighted up considerably and I sit here in my tent typing this post at a very sunny Donington Park ready to light the bbq with TNFer & fundraiser Pink Snail & his family & entourage camped next door. Weather's on the up and facilities and the general state of the circuit have improved considerably since recent visits.
A good meeting in prospect!

It wasn't the same duck you photographed at Mallory Park recently, Tony, was it?!!

Is the Redgate pub still operating, or was it demolished as was threatened at some point?

Just returned from a fabulous day at Donington. Looked like a pretty respectable-sized crowd, fabulous entries and some great racing - and the sun shone all day. Roger Clark and I walked all round the circuit and I thought it looked pretty tidy after all of the recent gloomy reports. Kevin and his team look as though they have been pretty busy.Is the Redgate pub still operating, or was it demolished as was threatened at some point?
Sadly, Tony, the Redgate pub is no more. Hope to post a few snaps shortly.

Anyone know what caused the last race to be red flagged?
I noticed that Frank Sytner's T70 was missing from the results posted on MST World timing
All I can say is the race was red flagged with nine minutes to go and Sytner was excluded from results after lying second. It seems he went straight on into tyre wall which caused the red flag but not sure where and was taken to hospital.

Hugh Price threads his Chevron through the kitty litter thrown up by Mr Stretton
Vintage variety. A fine pre-war field provided 45 minutes of splendid entertainment.
Another great grid of pre-'63 GTs in prospect for tomorrow includes Carlo Vogele's 330GTO and Simon King's Morgan +4
The lovely Porsche Carrera Abarth of Bill Wykeham/Willie Green
TNFer Nick Savage's Alfa Giulietta SZ
Nice to see so many 250GT SWBs - this is Conrad Ulrich's example. It was also a pleasant change to see so many E Types, and not a lightweight 'clone' amongst them.

Frank certainly had the bit between his teeth shortly before the incident that led to him leaving the circuit by ambulance.
