It seems Nissan used the lessons learned with the Deltawing in their WEC contender:

Not sure why my opinion is particularly required?  As Ensign says, it was a cock-up.  And then the D'wing made it worse, or at least its driver made it worse.  

 

Still, the inevitable D'wing retirement was delivered to the waiting masses.

Do you think he tried to steer round it but because of the narrow front track this was not possible?

So because the car CANT TURN, the best solution is to attempt a tighter one instead of letting the car run straight and going around?

He seemed to be going faster than the other traffic. That means the problem was the driver, not the car.

My exact position as well... can't believe the passing car even tried to go low with a parking lot-load of Tarmac available to the outside.
