Well, I just don't know what to say. I understand its just a test, but couldn't they find someone else? Or is it just too big of a promotional event to pass up?

Maybe they want to end their testing program and decided this was the best way out.

Yeah, the king of power slide in directed video stunts where every single shot must be repeated zillion times before Ken, the American king of power slide gets it right.

Great idea Pirelli. I'm sure you will get tons of scrap valuable data from this test.

Wonder if the car will make it to the end of the lap. Block is a nice chap, but he keeps crashing out in most WRC rallies he takes part in :well:

Am i the only one who expects it to be just fun? I mean it's not like he is trying enter GP race or test new tyres for F1 - it's purely show event :) And if he really makes F1 Gymkhama video it will be epic

I'm a rallying fan. Block is crash happy. Way more than Kimi, by far. As a matter of fact, Räikkönen has not been off the road this season at all, something many other rally drivers can not say (and that includes Block and some "big" guys), the "obvious KR comments" are old news already.

Among other things, Block doesn't use the standard racing boots, but some other boots with a much thicker sole. Therefore, he doesn't have much sensitivity in the feet. If that's the reason why he goes off ofter, or it is the fact that his co-driver holds Block's arm each time he gets scared is something I can not say. I'm sure though, his co-driver will not be in the F-1 car and his good pal Kimi (they are good pals) will convince him to use the right boots.

Nevertheless, as much I like him, I keep thinking he will go off. :drunk:

If he will go off with style the event may be declared sucess :D The main purpose of event it to have fun, not demonstrate his F1 driving skills :)

fixed

Pretty obvious this is more of a Sponsor event than a rigorous testing event.

Block's cool. Don't bash him, like you'd say no if the offer arose.

I disargree. The game is cool, just don't expect realistic racing simulation from it.

Yes, it's cool. That's exactly what it is, just like Ken.

How dare Pirelli exploit the commercial value of their F1 participation.

The thing is...Block doesn't even really have a racing history...at least not one that lends itself to testing an F1 car. I realize its all marketing...but come on.

I mean we have Stallone in the boxing hall of fame because of Rocky, this must mean Shaun White will get the next F1 test due to his recent interest in cars.

Who cares? It's not like this is the first time a high-profile driver from an unrelated racing series got some seat time in an F1 car.

True. Don't get me wrong I am not upset by this, but just a bit surprised is all.

After all I will be at Watkins Glen on Tuesday to see the Hamilton/Stewert seat swap.

Whatever the purpose or goal is in here, I`m with Ken´s shot. F1 is not some kind of holy thing not to have fun with. Let the man drive
