I know it's a boring cookie cutter track...
To give Michigan some due respect, it is the model that the others copied. When they ran Indy Cars there for the first time in 1968, it was really quite unique.

I'm not too fond of cartoons in the livery of the car, but I like the navy blue livery more than the target one (yes, I know what I said is almost a sacrilege) and I'm sure his son will find it pretty cool.

I don't know. Maybe you can go back through the old threads and find the link to the site and check the stats for Michigan. In the earlier threads, someone usually posted a link to a site that shows how many wins, top 5, 10's and so one the drivers have on the track, and avg. finish position the 4 last races. What happended with that?

There is this annoying repeating noise on the broadcast, like a cell phone ringing or something

Edit: Although. . .Stenhouse may be a Cup guy himself next year depending on how the cards fall.

Ha I'm in Maryland right now, not five miles from the golf tournament, but my attention is rapt on Michigan, with maybe a little attention for Washington, DC, where the US is playing Jamaica in "soccer."I˙ll keep one eye in Michigan and the other will be in Maryland. US open that is.
Tuning in from Croatia. Good evening guys.

LOLWhats up with Monte?
Is he "start and park" today?
Really bad chatter, says it's 8/10 tight, tighter than the car has been all weekend.
"Feels like there is no rear bar in it."
Brian had the nerve to ask at the last second if they could do a two tyre stop.
WTF is his problem? He dreams about two tyre stops at night, thinks about two tyre stops while he's making love to his wife.

pit rules?Anyone fancy doing a quick explanation of the pit stop rules (seems they have to pit once?) and caution/SC rules?
there is a speed limit and a commitment cone...if you go inside the cone you have to go down pit road.
three wheels have to be inside the pit box.
only so many guys can service the car at one time and they can't jump over the wall until the car enters the pit box.
five lug nuts per wheel, they all have to be tight or they get a penalty

Cheers mate but I meant more along the lines of F1 cars having to pit at leat once due to having use both sets of tyres.
I thought I heard a reference to a 'strategy' stop and also the pit stop window being 36-40 laps?
lastly (for now!) is there a similar trade off the time of a stop and the benefit of new rubber? Seems they sometimes choose 2 fresh tyres rather than 4...

No requirement to pit, but they definitely have to refuel at least five times per race.Cheers mate but I meant more along the lines of F1 cars having to pit at leat once due to having use both sets of tyres.

HUGE dropoff in lap times in terms of tyres. From a percent of lap time standpoint, thing Pirelli SuperSofts.
"strategy" might be short pitting, in F1 they call it undercut strategy. Basically means pitting before you have to from a fuel standpoint, to get the advantage of fresh tyres. A lot of times, during a green flag run, it's a game of chicken to see who blinks first as far as who pits first to get fresh skins, and as soon as the first team does, everyone else jumps on pit road because the guy who pitted, is going to have a huge advantage in speed while the other guys circulate on used rubber.
