With that in mind, I'm curious about:
The actual cost per night;
How much noise is transmitted between rooms?
How CLEAN are they maintained? Is there some guarantee of this? One might think of sleeping enclosed next to a Portolet, what is there to dispel this thought? One thinks in terms of the bacterial surface nastiness as well as the aerosolized kind.
You need actual pictures of said accommodations.
Competitively priced (including a car parking location) that could really fill a large niche in what is an enormously prohibitive expense for a lot of people. For myself as a below-"middle class"(?) North American, Austin is looking like a budget breaker by a large margin; this could almost potentially make it viable I would think.

a full race weekend since 2005 because of the nightmare getting in/out of the circuit. I like camping and have done at the WSB for many years,
but as the OP says on Grand Prix weekend it is more often than not atrocious weather.
I wouldn't be too bothered about the noise, as long as they have a toilet, a shower and keep the weather out :-)

We were looking at those in the grandstand on Sunday. I think the blurb said that they were £500 per person per weekend.
Hmmm, maybe not then! £500 will get you a lot of things, like a flight to Grand Prix where it doesn't rain

I was hoping that you could hire them for an hour or so.......
.....stop laughing at the back, not for that reason! (Although could come in handy if it was a dull race)
Mrs Murdoch was 6 months pregant and she gets tired out easily these days, would of been great for her to be able to have a power nap.

£500 would get you a flight ONLY - but accommodation at any race venue is expensive. Room rates at Monaco are astronomical.
We looked at the Holiday Inn at Northampton and that was £320 a night. You are miles away from the circuit and have to get up at 5.00am to queue in traffic. The location and convenience was terrific for that portable hotel. We investigated an American Motorhome at the BGP and the prices were approx £4000 for 3 nights - between 5 of us that was well over £250 per night and we still had to share a shower and toilet!

Monaco is taking it to the extreme But I agree, as soon as F1 rolls into town expect accomodation rates to double or triple. We stayed in Weedon last time we did Silverstone, it's 'only' 12 miles away but for most of that you're stuck in traffic. Ever since then we've either been to Monza or Valencia, where great public transport makes it a doddle to get to both circuits.
Granted Valencia doesn't produce the most exciting races, but for the prices we paid this year £500 easily covered the flights, weekend grandstand ticket and accomodation per person.
I'm not beating up on Silverstone, it's a great track. But like most circuits in the middle of no where it's a pain in the arse to get to, unless you can afford a helicopter

I`m sure the atmosphere locked inside those boxes is incredible. Give me the party that is the camp site anyday.
I was at the Silverstone Classic at the weekend and there looked to be a full-on party at Snoozebox! You don't need canvas for atmosphere.
