Hi Everybody!

We're considering a trip out to Australia for the GP next year, flying back via KL to take in the race at Sepang too.

Would appreciate any advice anyone has re good places to watch from, public transport, any possible driver autograph opportunities etc.

We've been to quite a few races abroad now but this will be our first visit to Melbourne. We did go to Sepang back in 2006 but would appreciate more up to date info particulalry around buses from KL airport.

Does anyone have any hunches as to whether the dates announced in June (18th March for Australia and 1st April for Malaysia) are likely to change? I don't know whether to risk trusting these or not!

Thanks

Hi

Went to Oz in 2010 and they are well organised, best bet is to buy one of their 3 day grandstand tickets which allow you to use a grandstand of your choice on each day. Also all the transport to & from Melbourne to Albert Park is free for duration with many special trains/ trams laid on.

If you buy a 3 day ticket you get access to a sort of paddock club opposite pits, or you did in 2010!

Good Luck

PS went to Sepang 2007 so info probably similar to your own!

the dates are fixed in .tixs are on sale

I have been many times(oz grand prix) usually i do this over the 3 days
thursday get the gp advantage and walk the pits see below

thursday /friday hang around the autograph stage ( see the map on website ) all day and the drivers will come and autograph things. Most drivers will be there its a long hard day in the sun but to get autographs from ur favourite drivers is so cool .I have all the main drivers over the last 10 years .

Friday i roam around the track and do the off track activities plenty to do and see

Saturday ontrack action
Sunday race day

also have major concerts on over fri sat sun night .

best place to watch is on the first corner mostly every year is a crash . if u get the gp advantage tix theres a special bar on main straight .... general admission is cool can sit anywhere . walk around on friday to pick ur seat i usually sit next to the first corner stands , tv drinks toilets , bring your own food and soft drinks.(australians will be there 2 hours before opening gates i got there around 5am to get the best spot) .

grand stands depending on ur budget

buy ur tickets on this website before the end of the year and u get goodies extras which are so cool .. its the official Australian website and is legit http://www.grandprix...au/gp-advantage

Silver GP Advantage 2012 includes:

Melbourne city center (around 15 min tram ride )or st kilda (around 20 mins tram ride ) any hotel / hostel is in reach of the track they have loads of trams that go to the track , its very well organized . don't forget to see the great ocean road , philip island and the rest of oz if u can .

If you can afford it, drive from Melbourne to Sydney along the coast, so many great spots. Google "Great ocean Road" and NSW South Coast, Jervis bay etc.
