http://plus.autospor...-it-the-future/

The future of sports broadcasting may concern some fans, but it is logical in every way that this evolution in sports coverage will prevail; the impossible alternative is to go back to what we had pre-1990. I suspect you'd soon join me in scrambling for a credit card and the telephone, begging for a HD subscription, no, sod it, 3D! Now, hand me those daft glasses…

This reads like an advertisement for F1 fans to get a Sky sub. Was it also a good idea to get a Sky presenter who is obviously going to be biased to write an article about a subject where Sky are directly involved ? In fact, does Autosport have something to gain with this deal as there hasn't been a single negative editorial or opinion piece about it yet.

That piece comes from his website about a week ago, Autosport just re-ran it. There was nothing else at the time (the story is only about 30 hours old) and I have a hunch Tony Dodgins and Dieter Rencken will get to it next week and there will probably be mag articles, etc.

I've just read through the Dodgins article and he hardly has a bad word to say about the deal. Amazing that.

Amazing that if he had been critical of it, no one would have accused anyone of bias. Perspective is a hell of a thing isn't it.

Big difference between being critical and being balanced. If it is all good or all bad then it probably isn't balanced.

It's quite funny really.

You have to pay someone to read something that tells you to pay to watch something.

You must admit Ross, Autosport seems to be pandering to Sky, almost trying to easing fans into their way of thinking. Why I don't know. If anything, Autosport has the most to lose here due to people cancelling subs to afford a sky sub or just due to a reduction in UK F1 fanbase.

Do you have any criticisms of the deal yourself. You don't seem to critical in any of your post in RC.

I don't work for Autosport. Nor should any opinion that isn't violently anti-Sky be considered suspicious.

Ali_G I agree with you, that as part of the specialised F1 media, Autosport and other journos have a lot to lose if they put an anti-Sky spin into reader's minds.
