Sad news. Surprising too, as he was quite active until recently as far as I was aware.

I met him at the Goodwood Revival 3 years ago and signed a copy of his book for me. We talked about the Monica project and Bob Curl's involvement, then exchanged email addresses. Nice guy. RIP

This is a name from the past and maybe gone before....but didn`t Chris Lawrence have a small tiny? garage at the top of Arkwright Road, off Finchley Road, NW3?
Or am I dreadfully confused? I`m talking mid 50`s -- I was still in short trousers....in some ways I still am....

In 2008 I wrote the following in a then-current thread on Chris Lawrence:Very sad to hear. I met Mr Chris Lawrence twice in 2008: At the Race-Retro in Stoneleigh, where he was signing his book and at Goodwood. I want to share two pictures with you, which I took at Stoneleigh.
A very few years ago, when I was handicapping at Bentley DC Silverstone, someone (Bill Wykeham IIRC) had entered a Lawrencetine Morgan +4. I found him and his car before practice, and ventured to ask if it was a genuine Lawrencetune car - "Yes, and that (waving at a man fiddling with the Weber carbs) is Mr. Lawrence tuning it!"
Like many of our sort, he was still playing with motorcars long after he needed to!

Sorry to go OT here but, Alfred, those are actually my photos taken at Stoneleigh in 2008 and at the NEC two years before - note that Chris is wearing a different shirt and looking less frail in the NEC picture. It would be appreciated if you didn't claim credit for photos which aren't yours.Very sad to hear.
