This is, or possibly a recreation of the Bertil Roos car. Here it is at Silverstone in 1975 just before being shipped off the other side of the Atlantic.

I think next year I would like to go Friday just to chin wag to all my racing mates, then go back on the Sunday too get round and see all the exhibitors and cars.

I couldn't agree more Iain. This was my first visit. Too much to see, so little time. I met a lot of people and seemed to have missed even more :)

Me too. Me & my guest on Friday found it very hard on the feet, and I was finished by 2pm yesterday. The uneven floors made it very tricky to negotiate when you've got dodgy pegs like me these days. :well:

Didn't see any data on this car.....but Villenueve did run in Atlantic in 74 sponsored by Schweppes; not sure if this continued into 75?

How much did you pay for it?

The asking price was £160.00.I thought this was a very good price, the book is mint condition. We started haveing a bit of banter about the price but with something like this I did not want to loose the book. I paid £150.00.Very happy. BTW Mrs Delta looked inside the cover and the original price of £9.99. was there. That was close.!!!!

A very enjoyable "rally stage" today. As a circuit photographer I found it rather strange standing with no protection and having cars coming at me from different directions at the same time. The most surreal moment was when two Talbot Sunbeams were charging at each other head-on, pedal to the metal before both "breaking right" and going onto their respective parts of the road; nothing more between them than two rows of hay bales! Purists might get sniffy but it is a great spectacle for J. Public.

I'll not carpet-bomb the thread with photos, no doubt someone else will do that later. ;)

Some of the four cylinders didn't sound too bad either! :drunk: I was referring to folks who say"it's not a proper rally stage.... etc".

First real outing for my new big lens today:

I'm quite pleased with it, so far, but the zoom works the opposite way to my Nikon lenses... which will catch me out at some point, in the heat of battle.

What an interesting plate! The 'B' clearly not stamped in the same style as the the rest of the numbers. I should have had a look at the gearbox number (we have those for 75Bs) and found a man with a spanner so we could look at the AM number (we have those too).

The chap in the photo with me is former top bike racer Roger Marshall, with whom I was paired in the quiz. He turned out to be a really nice bloke, but sadly we got beaten too many times on the buzzer. :well:

It was good to meet most of those already mentioned, plus Derwent Motorsport and Richard Jenkins at the TNF meet, and Millau and RS250 elsewhere. I thought it was a great show this year.

Does this mean you were beaten in a quiz, Tim? I don't believe that for a second!

'Fraid so, James - not as quick on the buzzer as I used to be. (Now if you'd been there, we'd have slaughtered the bastards ;) - and it would have given me great pleasure to have defeated a certain well-known British rallyman who captained the opposition.)

So we see 75 B - 10. But what are (were) the two (?) digits on the right?

My Race Retro day started well when I found myself parked next to Gary Frogeye, though it took our combined navigational skills to find our way to the show from there.

A good show, I thought, and not too crowded (to the extent that some of the stallholders were looking a bit glum - suspect there were some good bargains to be had as I was leaving at about 3pm, from those not wanting to take too much stuff back to base).

Almost resisting the temptation to carpet bomb but here are some of the things that caught my eye, starting with the Nanette Special (nee Mother Goose when it was stuffed full of Sage engine) on the Brooklands stand. I'd imagine its braking performance was distinctly marginal, especially in the wet.

Daft I may be but I found this recreation of our first World Champion aboard his first racing car on the Motor Sport stand rather touching:

As Pete said, the rally stage was quite hectic, so you weren't quite sure which direction you'd be attacked from next:

There should be a copyright number in the upper silver space - this one looks like it possibly ends in 92 (which would be rather high for 1975).

They also stamped a sequential number randomly on the plate (e.g. the XYZ car produced from when we started) - that could be the digits on the right.

Usually there are two ears on the sides of the plate so that it can be mounted with rivets...

Great to see Tony.
The red Porsche 911 (that was obviously set up for the London Borough of Islington "Sleeping Policemans" rally), looked as though it was going to fall over at every corner. Very entertaining and seemed content to occasionally use the tarmac.
The weather was very kind indeed. The parking location, not so.

Nice set Tony (as usual)! We must have been rubbing shoulders, assuming we took photos during the same session!

I am intrigued by that braking system, anyone know when it was fitted to this car? I'm presuming that it is not original.

What was wrong with the parking arrangements this time?

Now being blue badged I had access to parking close to the halls, but I couldn't help thinking on the way in that many visitors would have to walk a considerable distance, probably further than at either of the Goodwood events to be honest.

John Scrivener started building The Nanette (nee Mother Goose) around 1925 according to John Bolster, though I think Tim told me it has suffered some damage at some point in it's life ?

Apart from the fact that many people were misdirected by one of the signs the parking was dandy on Friday.

The show website said that the disabled parking area was reached through the main entrance when the route to it was via carpark 3 on the other side of the site! That confused many and kept them busy on the main gate!

I was intrigued by the cockpit controls in the Techcraft BRM.....

I was on the rally stage for the morning session on Sunday - was looking for you, Pete (well, actually looking for a Nikon F user, to be honest), then got distracted by the machinery so did not 'pursue my enquiries'. Shame.

Meeja and exhibitor parking was down by the pig units (pure coincidence), rather than just around the corner from the main entrance as in previous years - a bit of a hike and unsigned but OK really. Mind you, the area was filling up by the time Gary Frogeye and I arrived (about 10:15 I think), so don't know what they did with any overflow.

The Islington Porsche was in Safari Rally trim; where folks had to drive thousands of kilometers across the bush, rather that one kilometer on tarmac- it was a demonstration stage after all!

I was on the stage on Sunday morning too! You should have come up to me and claimed your fiver.

Talking with the organisers I can confirm that they have tried to improve the public parking but... I guess that without their going around the site and checking every sign and direction there are bound to be cock-ups. Was it worse than the NEC, which has had years to get it right but never has (and charges you handsomely for the privilege of trudging miles)?

The secret with Media/VIP/Exhibitor parking is to drive thro' the main gate and then park wherever you want; I left my car in splendid isolation right next to the rally stage, having learned the lesson about following signs and "security geezers" directions when we took a Bentley Flying Spur prototype too close to the halls way back when. Took us ages to get out of the log-jam.

When you next visit the NEC, Pete, might I suggest that you try the car park at Birmingham International? It is cheaper and you can walk undercover to the exhibition halls.

I really enjoyed Friday and was pleased to meet some forum members. I think the outside signage was poor in the showground with no signs to the stage or auction. OK I know where they were but must have been difficult if you did not buy a programme.
Overall the show gets better each year. I did feel that the Porsche main feature display needed to be a major centre attraction rather than 3 cars just "parked". Really surprised that the Porsche Club or Porsche GB were not there.
My bike colleague said that many of the Honda Heritage bikes did not arrive, hence the gap in the display.
I managed to park quite close to the main entrance to the hall with my media pass and friend's blue badge! Good in that I could go in and out and dump things I had bought!
Interesting to note who was not there: Historic Rally Car Register, AMOC, CRA to name three major clubs.
The heating, or lack of, is still a bit of an issue. Now we were blessed with a warm weekend but Halls 1 & 2 were almost too hot if you had a coat on, Hall 3 was OK and in Hall 4 you needed a coat on!
Friday seemed busier than last year - perhaps more of the really keen folk go then?

I have an even better plan! I park at Hampden in Arden station for free, and catch the train (one stop) to International; I think it was £1:80 this January. ;) keep it to yourself.

NEC clearly know that car racers are loaded but interior designers are skint.

The International Spring Fair which takes place in early Feb and is the NEC's largest exhibition (& one of Europe's largest which uses all the halls) has free parking too.

Giving him the benifit of the doubt, I had presumed that his blue badge carrying friend was with Derwent. There was a bloke in a peaked cap policing the disabled parking area (quite well as it happened). Being a new blue badge user, I am astounded at the number of non blue badge holders who totally ignore restrictions on a daily basis, one in three or even worse at peak times I would estimate! :well:

You didnt exactly make that clear in your Post. Sorry if I appear childish to you, but as a blue badge holder myself I get a tad ticked off by the number of people who misuse disabled bays.
