Always nice livery on Mark's bikes, sponsored by Ian King of Royal Cars.

I always thought Mark was a very stylish rider, equally at home on the roads and short circuits and IMHO was greatly underrated and deserved a shot with one of the British factory teams, I believe he would have done very well.

Where's Sharon these days, not seen her on the forum for a while. :well:

I am alive and kicking still (just about !)

I always thought Mark Salle's bike was one of the best looking bikes in the paddock, which greatly influenced my decision to buy this ex Wolfgang von Muralt MK 9 RG.

That's a cracker, I'm insanely jealous! :D

Lovely looking and functional too, all the bikes from that era seem to have that aura of minimalism about them

Wish it was in my garage :well:

IIRC Fabio's RS500 was the nearest to a 'works' spec amongst the privateers in that his sponsor or mechanic had converted it to full powervalve spec on all 3 cylinders whereas the original RS500 as supplied only had a powervalve fitted to the 2 upright outer cylinders, or have I got that wrong?

My road-going NS400 had PVs on the 2 horizontal (outer) cylinders due to the short runs on the pipes and the centre (upright) cylinder didn't have the PV.

I'm completely confused now, where are you, Paul Collins? HELP!!! :D

It's the dreaded Red Dragon, honest.

You're right on the NS400 set up, my incarnation hasnt got any fitted, I think Terry Shep removed them during the 500 conversion as to be honest they arent required on the big bore motor.

Re the RS500, I thought the difference between the privateer RS and the works NS was that the NS had the ATAC system which was Honda's version of power valves, whereas the RS didnt have it at all, that may have changed on later models though??

the early rs 500s had that very complicated hpp system which used centrifugal force to open or close the valve, im not sure when they upgraded the rs to have the atac system but they did do it and have the valves working with a mechanical system.
