Hi all. After lengthy consultation I am pleased to announce that the 61 GP will be formally acknowledged at the SCC State Titles Round 4 on the weekend of November 19/20. 7 cars are confirmed along with 3 drivers of the time. When I am able to officially, I will provide you with as much info as I can. But one great thing is the SCC Library is already preparing displays for us, so that will be a huge treat for enthusiasts and historians alike.
The race meeting includes the Australian Improved Production titles, The Historic Touring Car Cup and 3 or 4 Historic races. Entries close tomorrow so if you wanted to bring your car and have some fun click here fast http://www.sportingc.....20Form R4.pdf

Cars that will be at Mallala to honour the 61 GP are the Ellis Austin (in its current guise of the Tudor Accessories Simca, Michael Shearer), the Zephyr special (Greg Snape), Noel Hurd and Zephyr, Tillet MG (John Ellis), the Riccardian (memory has failed - please accept apologies), BBM (static display),
Special guests - Helene Bittner, Noel Hurd, John Newmarch, Clem Smith - competitors, Alan Marks - original commentator
Ian Brock and Streamliner, Don Penn and Trembarth Vincent

and I am sure I have forgotten others but will endeavour to gather my failing memory and add to this info.
The focus day will be Sunday when we are planning for a spirited demonstration, along with a static display of vehicles and history
Cheers
Annie

I hear the Ricardian and it's crew went around and enjoyed themselves.

Sorry to be so long in answering - joys of technological failures!!!!

A great day was had by all. John Ampt joined us, which was great.
As for the smiles of delight when the Zephyr hit the track after a long absence from SA - words don't cover it! I got that bit wrong too - it was Graeme of course who was driving it. We had to convince the Course Car drivers that they needed to put the foot down. Graeme needed to test the rebuilt gearbox and with a 90 mph 1st gear ... well lets say it was a speedy demonstration!

I was hoping to share the mike with Allan Marks but unfortunately he had been ill and hospitalised, so I'm hoping he is on the mend
