If Tech-Speed could do it last year, I'm sure they or someone else can do the same this year. An undeveloped, S2000, NA Chevy Cruze might not be the most competitive option for a privateer in 2012, however.

There's no point in Chevy being in it without an NGTC car and who's got the budget to build that? Plato said he needed to raise 100k plus just to get it started. Obviously MG turned out to be the better bet.
Can't see anyone wanting to run the Chevy's in the trim they're in at the moment. They're only any use from pole and I can't see a privateer putting one on pole.

Radical Performance Engines will supply 42 units of its 2.7-litre TCX V8, the front-wheel-drive variant of RPE’s popular RPX engine. These will be mated to the championship’s Xtrac control gearbox, and fitted to all cars in the silhouette touring car series. The TCX will be used from the beginning of the 2012 season for at least three years.
TC2000 is Latin America’s most advanced touring car series, and is contested across 12 rounds in Argentina, including the Santa Fe street circuit, and Potrero de los Funes, a 3.8-mile circuit encircling Lake Potrero de los Funes. I can see Whincup moving to NASCAR. Ambrose has proven that the move can be pretty successful. I think Whincup is a much bigger talent than Ambrose, and given the right equipment (it took Ambrose 3-4 years before that happened), a consistent race winning driver could be possible.

Hmmm... tbh I would be surprised if he went to NASCAR. SuperGT with Nissan could be an option, until the Nissan entry comes online in the V8's. IIRC I remember hearing Whincup talking about Le Mans I think, and saying how he'd like to do that at some point. Alex Premat has just signed for the V8's, and he raced DTM/Le Mans with Audi - so to draw a long bow perhaps DTM with a view to Le Mans/WEC in future?

I'd love to see someone like Whincup have a go at the BTCC, but I doubt it will happen. DTM is a more likely route given he will be looking to be paid rather than funding his own ride I imagine.

It's funny but I don't see Whincup in NASCAR, but then with Ambrose not doing too bad perhaps someone has made him an offer.
Agree that I doubt he'd do the BTCC - perhaps if he was around in it's heyday but not atm - DTM would surely be more attractive to him.
I wasn't thinking Audi in particular, just that Premat has come to V8's from DTM/Le Mans and that quite a few of the DTM drivers do Le Mans as well. So perhaps that a V8 driver going to DTM and potentially also doing Le Mans isn't too far fetched?

I watched the first 10 minutes of the race, I closed it after they switched to a view of some bloke in the pitlane right when something interesting was happening at the front. In fairness, at least the commentators also made note of how pathetic it was to do that.
I don't know why race directors, from F1 to Le Mans to WTCC, are so poor. Nobody has ever given a **** about the pitlane reactions, apart from maybe Nicole Scherzinger when she's wearing a summer dress.

Nice race, class act by Müller! Had high hopes for Micheliz but im sure he will win a couple of races this year! Coronel also great performance to keep up with the Chevvys.
MacDowall looking strong for the future and im also hoping Rydell and Chevvy team Scandinavia comes back for more WTCC weekends this year.
A little bit sad with the bird though..

The bird hit Michelis'es supension and the engline also loss some power because some other damage which cause his car slowed down..

For those who missed the WTCC Race 1 in Valencia, Nash pulled a brave Petrov. Also, racers seem to be adopting Nascar type bumping.
