Thanks for reminding me during the year(s) Sonny. I love the Le Mans race, but for some reason I all too often forget there's more of it outside of that one week in June.

Also, what's up with Alonso? I thought he was married to some Spanish rock-singer? I guess I am even more out of date with regards to these trivialities than I already suspected...

I thought it was the FiA Gala, all I've seen are F1 drivers....
C'mon, get with it people...

Actually, one of the first pictures to leak out (Lotus tweeted it) of the gala had 2-3 rally drivers on it

That picture of Kimi, JM Latvala and Juho Hanninen is fantastic. Hanninen's expression: Gold. :D

Looked that one up http://en.wikipedia...._Trophy_winners

It's a trophy for the best-scoring national sporting organisation.
Apparently the Germans (Vettel, Rosberg, Hulk, Schumi, Glock) beat the British (Hamilton, Button, di Resta) 486-424

The Germans have won it 11 out of 13 seasons, it's incredible.

It's also remarkable that a 'small' country like Finland could win this at all (in 2007)

True, Finland had Kimi and Heikki. Schumi was gone, Vettel was just starting which leaves Heidfeld for Germany.
But Lewis came just 1 point behind Kimi, I'm surprised that GB didn't have more drivers taking points. Button IIRC was driving that lousy Honda that year...

Years from now, when people look back at Alonso's career, they'll call this his "Elvis Period."

It is, however they did have one guy in Ferrari, and one in Renault.

What about Spain in 05. Alonso in Renault, De la Rosa in McLaren, for one race. Though, without De la Rosa, Germany would've won it by 2 points!

Vettel's appreciation of Alonso during his speech is I think phenomenal. I don't know how you could honor you rival any more than this.

"I am sure if we are close to Fernando, we are also close to fight for the championship."

And you are discussing hair styles

Kimi Raikkonen, who said that he “unfortunately” had to attend due to finishing the season in third place, also caused a stir when he showed up at the black-tie function – wearing a suit but no tie.

“I don’t follow the rules,” Lotus quoted the inimitable Finn on Twitter, “I just make them.
