I think it's rubbish to oblige your viewers to watch content by autoplaying stuff on the homepage. It puts viewers right with their noses in your truckload of news and I don't like the looks of that one. I'm a viewer, you get paid for my views, then listen to this: stop making me do crazy stuff with the stop-button to prevent a site autoplaying things I didn't ask for, especially not with sound. It's simply not nice.

I have to agree...

Every day, I open every article I want to read in different tabs simultaneously, so that I have 5 to 10 players playing the same video all at once, very annoying...

If you use either Firefox or Chrome there's an extension called Flashblock which prevents autoplay. If you're using IE you can also tweak it to mimic that: http://lifehacker.co...h-block-feature

That's a good solution, but I'd like to keep the number of extensions in Firefox at a minimum, already having a certain amount of them running.

And on principle, autoplay should be banned from the Internet.

Yep, autosport forced me to end up using Flashblock too, which is a shame because I'd rather them be able to show the ads that pay for that part of the site. Having Chrome near die because of 20 simultaneously flash videos though? No.

For the videos we have the option to allow or not autoplay. You can check a checkbox. It has been discussed before and autosport people kindly made the option available long time ago.

On the other hand, if you are talking adverts, well, for non-subscribers there are adverts, obviously. And some of them are not static images but videos, as expected, isn't it?

This option doesn't work on public computers or at work, because cookies are not stored and cache/preferences are regularly reset.

But it's a great option indeed, the best you can do in this situation ;)

Thanks for this suggestion.

The Autoplay function has been irritating me for ages. Now Flashblock has saved me!

It simply puzzles me why there hasn't been any kind of response of the website builders or moderators on this one. Well, I'm kind to whatever pleases me but with this stuff I don't mind if Autosport misses any clicks or income from me to be honest. Flashblock it's going to be, because this is out of hand, imho.

I would never usually criticise a service I get so much enjoyment from but the autoplay really winds me up having to search for the pause button. I like the video updates, hate the autoplay. Has caught me out a couple of times at work too (when I should be working!).

Must be the mods, working for employers ;)

But the issue is STILL GOING ON, and since about a month there has been STILL NO REPLY. Is anybody even reading this thread?

I created or contributed to another thread on this some time ago. I believe the official response was along the lines of get used to it. Or in my case log into my account as it won't autoplay for subscribers.

It used to be an issue to me when I was on exotic net links and fresh pcs, and had to pay crazy data costs.

Lads, there's a check button for Auto Play - you can just unmark it, this will set a cookie and on subsequent reloads of the pages it won't autoplay.
Just tested with Chrome.
