Just beginning to explore the world of replica circuits, creating my first functionally track, if still not fully drivable circuit - the pre-1983 Nürburgring Betonschleife. The parameters were to fit within a 244x122cm square (96'x48') and the 2.2 or so kilometer round about eventually worked.
Since the car pool collected by my dad, my brother and myself are exclusive modern slot cars based on 1960s and post saloons, GTs and sportscars, I have looked at other circuits reflecting that era. Tracks like Norisring, Diepholz, Zolder, Ring Djursland and Jyllands-Ringen has been tried, but so far not tested in 1/32, but by 1/4 card board cuttings of 1/32's track pieces.
Circuits like Monza with oval (novelty, saying, "yes, this was done in real"), Le Mans (size and history) and the Nürburgring Nordschleife (size and variety) are faint future projects.
For now it it as much about assembling an as workable and accessive track as possible. Cars fall off and in my family that confines to YOU drove it off to YOU put it back on track (no biggering from the driver about you as a spectator being slow to retreive any stricken car).
For a bit history my dad used to race 1/32 slot cars back in the 1960s with his pals and they cut up two lane tracks into one - with the inside always lacking a bit of support. After most of 15 years of neglect my dads cars and tracks pieces were brought back to life in the early 1980s for myself and my sister. This lasted for about five years.
For the past few years an ever growing scene has grown - cars without magnets.

You should see them go round corners! But don't be nearby if they come out of the slot - serious injury could be caused.

Is this one outside too? Here is something you probably thought you would never see again....
Even with a slot car it's a bit daunting.
The front row for tomorrow's race is Behra - Moss - Gonzales.

Barry and others, instead of cutting lanes by the middle I have used a 90 degree R2 x-lane. In this way you retain the original structure of the track pieces and using both lanes. It does make a mess of track lenght and race distance, but its workable.

This is a pretty accurate representation of... well, that's up to you to identify.
One little clue, it's an anti-clockwide circuit.

I had an inkling it was an old Italian post-war circuit with all those straights.
Funny, I had an inkling it was an old Australian or UK airfield circuit with all those straights.

Over time you will realise that, Nurburgring excepted, if my track is not exactly like the one it appears to be - it isn't that one.

I have built Aspern some time ago for a race (1961 as you correctly state. But this is the map I built it from:
Using the Google Earth timeline facility, the airfield looked like this in 2001:
Whereas now things have changed:
It would seem that considerable alterations have happened at the eastern end of the circuit. The circuit map I have posted above always looks pretty authentic to me.
However, excluding ovals, I doubt there have ever been two race circuits so similar in layout as Aspern and ?????

Remarkable how similar it is to Aspern though, isn't it?
P.S. Wimille spun out of my race, leaving Sommer in the lead but his gearbox failed handing the race to Rosier.

In the near future I'm about to race at the Danish Jyllands-Ringen (1.475 km version) and according to my dad it's about as twisty as it's reputation.

Here's my version from last week:
One of my longer circuits, with a lap time between 11 and 12 seconds.

I plan to take some photos later - be patient, but don't expect the Karussell to look anything like the real one. That can't be done with Scalextric track.
Can't you bend the tracks in all directions with a blow torch? And prop it up with some books?
(I am talking as a complete ignoramus right now)

First error free lap completed this morning after connecting booster leads in all directions, was a 21.78 seconds with Villoresi's Ferrari 375. I still have to clean the rails - some of these pieces haven't been off the shelves since I've been here in Malta, so with that and familiarity with the track, I'm reckoning on pole position being around 18 seconds.
One thing though, I'm going to have to drive the whole event standing up because from my usual seat, on a pouffe, I cannot judge the position of corners that are several meters away from me.

With an eighteen second lap I'm going to hazard a guess that you didn't built it to scale.First error free lap completed this morning after connecting booster leads in all directions, was a 21.78 seconds with Villoresi's Ferrari 375. I still have to clean the rails - some of these pieces haven't been off the shelves since I've been here in Malta, so with that and familiarity with the track, I'm reckoning on pole position being around 18 seconds.
