Just wondering what sort of cost I'll be looking at to go? Flights, accommodation etc etc

And what was your experience like?

I went twice!

Great race experience, and great fans. Sao Paulo is huge so many hotels. Expensive ones are more expensive, but their will always be something affordable. Nonstop flight for me (Chicago). Could see pulling it off for u$1000 + airfare + race tix, 3 days, eating good...

I can recomend two sectors: "A" or "G".
Sector A gives you a good view of finish line and some points in inner circuit.

Sector G, temporary stands, but gives you a good point to see 70% of a lap. In this sector is impossible to see the start/finish line and pits.

I have 15 Grand Prix at Interlagos in my history. I´ve been in all sectors. So, believe me, other sectors don´t let you enjoy the race.

If you really wants do attend the BR GrandPrix, advice to contact someone that could guide you in Sao Paulo. During the weekend, area around the circuit is very dangerous. If you have any question or want to meet me at "G" sector (Forza, Ferrari!), just reply this message. Will be a pleasure to help you here in Brazil!

HI there MauricioNP,

There is a possibility I might be going to the Brazil GP. I would like to know how dangerous it will be to travel to the circuit with my hubby from the town center (assuming we take the subways). Also will sectors "A" or "G" let you take clear pics without the high fences? Is it safe to take good cameras to the circuit without fear of being robbed? We will take precautions to hide the camera from plain view, and we will not dress fancy... but we will stick out like sore thumbs cos we are asians... so your advice is very much appreciated. Thanks.

I've been to Interlagos twice on my own as a European and you'll be fine. While it's always wise to be vigilant, just like in any major city, getting to the track by Metro is perfectly safe. Remember you'll be travelling with thousands of other race fans both ways. Inside the track your camera gear will be fine, Outside, if you feel uneasy, just be smart about it; break it down, put it in your back pack and use your point and shoot. Also remember that there are hundreds if not thousands of Police on duty in Interlagos. They are everywhere. Finally, there are 10's of thousands of Asians living in Sao Paulo; it also has the largest population of Japanese immigrants outside Japan. You will not stick out like a sore thumb!

'A' and 'G' are great stands and if you shoot from toward the top of them, there'll be no fence between you and the cars.

So relax and have a great time. The Brazilian fans will make sure you do!

Thanks for that! I feel much better now... IIRC I think Button was a victim of robbery etc (quite recently) in Brazil right? But I guess we're all moving in big groups of race fans, I hope it will be OK. But I will be vigilant for sure. Again, thanks for the heads up.... at least I know I won;t stick out like a sore thumb - at least until they ask me something in Japanese LOL

Very easy, the official GP Brazil website has packages including transfers, hotels, and so on: http://www.gpbrasil....N&page=packages
Scroll to the end of the website, there are still 2 hotels with these packages available.

I used to like the G sector, the view was about 70% of the circuit, until they added the Interlagos Club and Terrace Club sectors, which now restricts the view of parts of the inner circuit. Sector G view: http://www.youtube.c...feature=related

I now prefer Sector A, which is on the beginning of the main straight and gives good views too, but notice that the fences are very high and will show up in your photos. Sector A view: http://www.youtube.c...feature=related (notice that sector A is very long, and the views are different at the extremes)

In that website, if you click over the INFO icon next to the sector name, you will see several photos showing the views of each sector. Then you can decide yourself.
