Quite possible, FLB. I checked my Tamiya 1979 model; no Leyland sponsorship (that was added in 1980) but Cosworth camcovers nontheless. I remember when I built the model I was delighted that it was designed with such an eye for details; Tamiya could have used the (Ford) camcovers of any other DFV-engined model cars, and very few people would have noticed. Would be nice to welcome such people in this forum. Any (former) tamiya employees out there?!

I believe that motor was called the HB. IIRC, it was something wasn't a true 90 degree motor. It was something like 75. Maybe someone can clarify this for us...

The Leyland sponsorship was for their spare parts division. At the time, Leyland was in big financial trouble, with respect to the cars they were producing.
The spare parts devision made equipment for all car companies and was doing quite well. I remember this and thought it odd until I read a blurb in Road and Track.Interestingly enough, the Leyland logo was VERY similar to that of General Electric...
