I would kindly beg the people who are in charge to make something about the forum server. It seems it fails even if not that many users are in.

Yeah a lot of problems today, but expect with all the hype with the first race. More server power will be good.

Yeah, definitely to do with Qualifying and a few surprises within the grid no doubt driving traffic.

It was the same during the big team car launches earlier this year. It's simply a reflection of the size of the database.

Isn't it possible to optimize the DB or even transfer some older data to the archive to ease the load? I think the vast majority is interested in participating here and now and discuss mostly current issues.

Haven't dug deep into the way a forum works but have some (maybe faulty) memories that mile long threads produce the most of the load. Also, after a quick look back, there are a lot of threads with less than 10 posts.

It's got worse and worse over the past few years, hopefully there are some plans to improve it.

It's been on/off after every session this weekend. It happens after every race, it's really annoying.

Poor show.

If you're not going to fix the server at least make it members only.

I dread to think how many lurkers clog up the bb during a race weekend.

The annoying thing is that a well run forum is a massive draw to a website so really shouldn't be considered a side issue. The fact is that now on every F1 weekend, EXACTLY the time this forum should be doing it's job and selling Autosport to the masses it's unavailable. You could understand if it had just started happening but it's gradually got worse and worse to the point last season where the forum is useless during F1 sessions. The more and more people give up and migrate to other fora the more they are likely to give up on the premium content and look elsewhere for free blogs etc. of which there are many good ones now.

Server upgrade time. Seriously. Or clean up the database. Or something.

Server overload page and database errors abound today.

Remember when the people who ran Atlas/Autosport used to care enough to actually reply in threads like this? I think unfortunately that is the biggest difference these days, a lack of giving a monkeys. :)

It takes what, 20 seconds to write a post saying "Yes we are aware of the problems and we'll be looking at it" or "We're aware of the problems but unfortunately other projects are taking a precedent at the moment, it's something we will come back to".

I'll second that

Lack of response from Autosport on the 'website feedback' forum is sadly lacking.

Its getting tiresome now. Not a day goes by with messages about servers being too busy, ips errors. And thats without including the hundreds of stoppages during and after the race.

So loggin on at 05:10AM CET, most of Europe still sleeping, most of Americas should be sleeping. Only me and Asia are up, and the forum is at a snails pace, each page takes 20 seconds or there about to load / open.

This can not be server load, so it is something else and what ever something else is, it has been going on for a long time. I am puzzled that the powers in charge do not take serious, or at least more serious than they appear to take it, the basic structure have worked well for several years, suddenly having an issue is not unheard of, but not doing anything about is surely a very strange tack. If it was my companies website behaving like this, we would all be awoken from our slumber around the world and told to fix it now.

Hi guys

I seem to be doing a lot of apologising at the moment - with regards to the servers, we have been experiencing record amounts of traffic in the last month (probably owing to the rather exciting start to the F1 season). We are aware of the situation, and the need to upgrade the whole forum system (from functionality through to hosting etc).

We only have a small dev team but it is on the roadmap of jobs to fix; though I can't give you a solid ETA for the fix being implemented at this time.

Please bear with us, I know it's frustrating at times and I thank you all for your patience and support, we will get it sorted as soon as we can.

Best wishes

Jim

We are one month further, another race day, another melt down of the forums. Any idea when you guys gonna get a budget to hire some web gurus to fix it?

I predict complete ****up/****down/and****off for this weeked, one of the busiest, if not the busiest of the year. yay...........

Maybe if they banned Monaco GP threads and forced people into chat that would improve matters? And keep chat open for the 500?

Getting rid of the multitudes of 'Pirelli' threads should have helped!!...

...but I'm with Neil on this one, expect pandemonium!

I might take a look-in on the smartphone over the weekend. Otherwise I'm staying the hell out!

I think you need to work on your database engine or database design itself. It is not handling locks effeciently. Anyway your database is certainly not robust enough for the workload it is subjected to.
