With the F1 grid in 2012 apparently being somewhat close together, quite a few commentators are expecting a classic season. Nine drivers on the grid have already tasted F1 victory champagne - how many of them will do so this year, and will they be joined by new winners?
With McLaren having locked out two front rows already, both drivers will be in the frame for victories during the season. Even though Red Bull seems to have struggled on pure pace, we should not forget that both their drivers won races during the past years. Mercedes as well may be a future contender, with Michael Schumacher aiming for his first victory of his comeback career, and Rosberg looking to "make the Button/Häkkinen". Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen is convinced of his car's speed, and his team mate is certainly aiming to make the best of the car's potential as well. And while Ferrari seems to be struggling, Alonso is known to punch well above his weight in races. Despite today's F1's technical reliability, we must not count out a freak victory due to weather conditions (Vettel 2008) or high attrition (Panis 1996, Herbert 1999) or both (Fisichella 2003).
So how many drivers will win races in Formula 1 this year?
Record holder is still the 1982 season, when no less than 11 drivers took the chequered flag first.

I think people who think SCH will win a race this year are deluding themselves. Nothing in that Merc so far has pointed towards race winning pace. Sure qualifies great, but come race day, they are gone. I doubt they will be able to get completely around the tyre killing problem, thus making Schumacher the least likely world champion to win a race this year.

To be fair - its Raikkonen we are talking about here , who won 2009 Spa in a dog cart...
.. if Lotus even maintain its relative position of 3rd best , that one is secured for him.

I think Webber will win simply because he doesn't seem to be significantly behind Seb this year like last season. The two have an almost equal chance at the moment.

So far we have JB and FA, and it's only natural LH and SV will win at some point.I'm gonna add MW,KR and one of the Merc drivers hopefully Schu as the wild cards so the total is SEVEN winners in 2012.

Under normal circumstances I'd say only Hamilton, Button, Vettel, Webber and Alonso have a chance. Rosberg and Schumacher will have absolutely no chance of victory, unless Mercedes finds a way to deal with their tyre degredation. Lotus is driving strong with Kimi, but I doubt they'll keep this up all season.
So under normal conditions 5 winners, with possible one or two extra winners if there are changeable weather conditions.

From there to 6 it's a big leap and now it seems like Kimi and then GrowJohn are closer to that. Then there are the Mercedes, followed by Massa. Everyone else is in the once in a generation odds for a win, which makes 7 seem unrealistic despite how close the field seems.

I'm 100% sure Schumacher will win a race this year. I'm also sure Webber will win a couple as he has performed fairly strong this year. So next up are Hamilton, Vettel, Schumacher and Webber. The drivers who have won so far weren't in my prediction.
