No other team has had more names in it's history. From Toleman to Benetton to Renault to Lotus and now Lotus has dropped out from Lotus. Which makes me wonder what the next colourful name for Enstone's finest might be.

Lopez wouldn't rename it something without historical value, I'm sure he knows he could name it Genii or Enstone or whatever, but its the name that means a lot to Lopez i get that vibe from him. I could see the revival of a brand if the Lotus foray turns sour maybe even the birth of a new manufacturer.

Think Toleman would be cool. Don't know why they wouldn't just stick with Lotus though, it's only the title sponsorship that's gone, I'm thinking there's also an naming contract as well that's separate to the sponsorship.

Taking into consideration how all the press keeps talking about 'Kimi's car' and 'Kimi's team', Ice One would be the most appropriate name. :p
Or maybe Ice Two, to distinguish it from the Motocross and the Rally team.

Whatever they change their name to, I will still call them only one name. Enstone. Their location has become synonymous with the identity of the team. Enstone is to this team as Maranello is to Ferrari.

Or Schizophrenia GP. Next year they could come to each race with a totally different name and, just for the heck of it, a different team principal for each race.

I think it is easy.
General format of team names is:

<sponsor> <team name> Team

so since <sponsor> is/was 'Lotus' then <team name> is ... F1

:-)


But seriously - Toleman would be great!

What a joke. Black Lotus had no right to bitch about Green Lotus given the shenanigans that black Lotus has been engaged in prior to and since the legal battle. After all this, they should be stripped of the rights to the name and it should be bequeathed to Tony Fernandez free of charge. And they should buy him dinner for his trouble.

None of the Lotus incarnations, should be allowed to add and soil the Lotus pedigree, was stupid in the Green version and even more stupid in the Black.

I have no good idea / suggestion for a name, but being old fashioned why the heck not call it what your company is called?
