Loving the Autopolis circuit, nice layout, looks like it flows quite well.

This onboard makes it look good too, bearing in mind it only a F-BMW car its got some quick, challenging corners in there and does flow well. Would be interested in seeing what a bona fida F1 car could do around there.

EDIT: A bit more footage with some off board stuff -

That looks like a good circuit. Instead we got the horrible TI Circuit Aida the following year. :well:

And there was proposals of Jacarepagua modifications allowing an international level circuit remain in the middle of other sports venues.

Here are the Jacarepagua modification proposals:

There were negotiations with the FIA about a possible street circuit in Beirut, Lebanon back in 2001.
Kimi Raikkonen and Lotus were here a couple of weeks ago and reopened the subject once again.
I don't think it'll ever happen though, not before they eliminate the evil-doers.

Tor PoznaƄ in Poland. Built in 1975-77. It's design and various details were consulted with Ecclestone, and AFAIK Poland was actually quite close to having a GP back then.

Some onboards (from races, hard to find anything decent from a really quick car):

It's not as dodgy as you think it is, believe me. Media always finds a way to amplify the news.
anyway.. the circuit was supposed to be here

No, I honestly don't beleive it to be dodgy myself. I know someone who has lived there a fair bit, but it just has that name and image to the west that it can't shake. The media seem to like emphasising trouble in middle eastern countries, like you say...

That marina portion of the Beirut track looks like the one in South Korea. Was it the same architect?

I imagine that same guy who has designed most of the snooze-fests over the last 15 years.

I guess Herr Tilke never throws away an idea then. He must have a vast library of unused track plans, boring or not, it'd be fascinating to have a look through.

I imagine if he has a passion for designing racetracks he has quite a few blueprints that will never see the light of day, but were something to amuse him in his free time. We all have our passions, I just wish I got paid a lot for mine instead of the other way around.

I couldn't find a specific Greek GP thread when I searched but this is probably more appropriate anyway or at least it could incorporate 'circuits that aren't going to happen'.

Anyway take a look at this:

The most interesting point of it being that the intro blatantly rips off this.

Should we add the Austin and NJ courses, or is that premature?

Well, happily I was splendidly wrong about Austin which has proved a real triumph. But I suspect that we will never see the Noo Joysee track used. And is Sochi really going to happen?

The track at Zandvoort was redone in 1999 with the goal to host Formula One Grand Prix's again.
Although it was approved for Formula One tests, it never got more than a number of demo runs.

Below is an onboard from Boss GP (~15 sec. slower than F1 would go)

And Jos Verstappen in the 1998 Tyrell (tv cams):

It's a real shame the new track never got a chance. Although it can't compete with the old Zandvoort, corners like the Tarzanbocht (1), Scheivlak (6) and the Arie Luyenduijk-boch (13)(formerly Bos uit) are amazing.

Apparently its on track. I don't hold out much hope for New Jersey though I would love it to happen.

I'm reasonably sure that Kazakhstan Motorcity was never developed.
