I have podcasts that I listen to for Indycar and Nascar. I am looking for recommendations for F1 podcasts. I am interested in race analysis and general news.

The Autosport podcast is very good, but is released fairly infrequently.

The Chequered Flag podcast from the BBC is very good if you want the basic preview and review. The preview is good fun and quite light hearted, but also goes into decent technical detail and commentators who don't mind sticking their neck out with a prediction while the review of each race focuses heavily on post-race driver interviews and immediate reaction to the Grand Prix.

The F1 Rejects podcast comes out about 6 to 10 times a year and is one of the funniest things I've ever heard. They cover all of the big news in F1, but mostly just so that they can make jokes about it. As the name suggests, there's a heavy focus on the unsuccessful driver (they had an entire hour long special on Luca Badoer when they realised he was coming back into the sport) and on those drivers who make a lot of mistakes. As silly as it is, they assume an enormous level of familiarity with the last 20 years of F1 and it's quite satisfying to listen to them make jokes that won't make sense to anyone but the biggest F1 geeks!

I used to enjoy Sidepodcast as well - their overall enthusiasm for F1 is amazing. I don't know whether it's gone downhill recently or whether I've just needed a bit of a break, but I haven't been enjoying it quite as much lately.

Would be prudent to link to these podcasts, eh?

Can recommend the monthly MotorSport Magazine podcasts: http://www.motorspor...audio-podcasts/

Absolutely agree on F1 Rejects, they rock, and are really funny. I hope they chose to do a full race again this season, like they did with the Indian GP last year. Their nicknames for the drivers are so spot on, and hilarious

Also agree on Sidepodcast, it looks like they are scaling back on coverage this year because of the Sky/BBC thing, and the Feet Up Fridays are kinda disappointing. The "aside with Joe" remains very good

I would add the Radio LeMans podcasts, especially the Midweek Motorsports edition. While mainly sportscar centric, they do have very good reviews of the F1 races, and rumors

World Rally Radio used to be superb, I am adjusting to the new broadcasters this year, but they are not as good as Colin Clark, Becs et al.

Sniff Petrol, or Gareth Jones on Speed, is also one of my favorites. Maybe more light hearted than most, they are really good, with the exception of their car tests (mostly out of season stuff). Worth a listen.

Sidepodcast was ok a few years ago for a fancast, but you are bang on all they ever do is slag off F1 and preach their stupid ideas on how they think it should be..I cant listen to it anymore, they have ideas above their station...in fact it makes me feel slightly angry these days. In saying that their 'aside with Joe' podcast where they talk with Joe Saward is ok.

Not sure if they still do it, but the fanvision f1 podcast was good.

James Allen has just this year started doing monthly podcasts. They're usually very interesting, the most recent one talked about how important Asia is to modern F1.

Oh my gosh no. I have no idea how they manage to conduct an interview through puckered lips.

A lot of people around here seem to have what I would call personal problems with Peter Windsor, but I love The Flying Lap. I like Windsor and there's certainly no disputing the quality of the guests he always has on the show.

My phone is crammed with all sorts of podcasts as they're the only things that keep me sane whilst running. Over time I have stumbled over pretty much every F1 podcast out there, these are the ones that have managed to avoid the chop:

Sidepodcast is worth favouriting, but only for the Joe Saward episodes, the regular pod is pretty poor.

Another f1 Podcast is a surreal blend of comedy and F1. It is always hilarious but I imagine it's not in everyones taste. Usually have a post race podcast, definitely worth a try!

The Tuesday weekly "Formula 1 Blog" is very good, especially for news & post race discussions. There's a Skip Barber driving instructor who usually does post-race's and so is pretty imformative. They actually discuss the races with well thought out opinions and different angles- rather than just re-commentating on the entire race like quite a few other pods.
http://www.formula1b.../17/podcast-13/ - Chinese post-race

The Flying Lap is usually interesting, hosted by the VERY well connected Peter Windsor. Last weeks episode contained an interview with Rob Wilson (F1 driver coach) going over some of the differing driving styles of all the WDC's.

Lke others have said, Motorsport Magazine is top class. The back catalogue is good too I seem to recall Brian Redman's ep being particularly interesting (was a while ago though)!

There's plenty there to keep you busy :p

Not an audio podcast but you can download an audio only version. Windsor tends to use three words when one will do but he has good guests on.

I listen to the Flying Lap, BBC 5 live F1, JA on F1, Autosport podcast and occasionally Radio Le Mans and Motorsport. Are there any other good ones that can be recommended?

Cheers!

I came across these vids on Peter Windsor's youtube channel and I didnt know where to post them

Scalabroni explains Coanda

Scalabroni on 2013 front roll centres.mov

Then it occured to me that Windsor has a very good channel going on and maybe it could have its own thread ... but then there are a number of other channels and web pages that provide good info and they cant all have their own threads. So I figure that this thread could be a convenient depot for links to useful internet resources (i.e. good youtube channels, podcasts, websites etc) that we may want to share which do not quite fit anywhere else but which do not really deserve their own stand alone threads.

Feel free to contribute as and when you have something to share :)

MiniDrivers & MiniBikers

This guy is just awesome, he makes great recaps of the Grand Prixs of both F1 and MotoGP. I'm always looking forward to the next episode... even tho he seems to be Alonso Fan (can be wrong on that) its not noticable in his videos, which is a positive thing, those videos are funny AND neutral.

It's not a very informative channel, but one of the motorsport channels not by an official team, that I really like.

edit much later: wait a second this thread got merged with a podcast thread? but this youtube channels are not podcasts unless I misunderstand what podcast is

Me and another forum member, Shoofirbin, started a podcast this season as well: F1 and Done

It's an American/Boston sports fan take on F1. Here's our latest podcast talking about the Chinese GP.

We're on itunes and stitcher as well.

He's mates with Mark Webber and often interviews F1 personalities ;)

Another vote for Formula1blog.com

I listen to the following

Chequered Flag - BBC
James Allen podcast - really informative for some of the 'bigger picture' stories
Formula1blog.com - very enthusiastic and passionate about the sport, really reflects well in their delivery. I tend to listen to just the main podcasts and not the ones lead by forum part of the site (those ones tend to be more a fancast).

I used to listen to Sidepodcast but I found they disappeared up their own backsides with constant moans about the sport. There's a distinct bias on there to certain drivers and once figured out, you can see the basis of a lot of their views. Disappointed really as it used to be good before they gained a bit of an audience and subsquently their ego out grew the show's appeal.

Ooh many similar fans of podcasts here! I shall go chronologically (from the 1st post).

Autosport podcast Great round ups. I'd rather have it on a regular basis though. :p

Chequered Flag podcast Mainly interviews and post race comments. Pre-race is good, but not really exceptional.

F1 Rejects podcast HIL-LAR-RIOUS. And I second another GP based podcast. I LOVED the India GP one.

Sidepodcast It was great and I even joined the community and posted articles for them. Then they got on their high horse, mocked F1, snobbed my every comment on Sebastian Vettel and I can't even be bothered to visit for Joe Seward anymore.

MotorSport Magazine podcast Good, although I get lost in some of their reminiscing (I am not nearly old enough the remember the "good old years" apparently).

Radio LeMans Good, but not really my kind of racing.

World Rally Radio I loved the old commentators. Heck I listened to it for 4 whole years without really following WRC at all (although I do support Loeb). It is just like my addiction to the Radio Roland Garros commentators.

James Allen Okay, but his opinion isn't really my cup of tea.

The Flying Lap FANTASTIC interviews. Although sometimes (even with Scarb's drawings) I can get lost in the mechanical side of things.

Formula 1 Blog A great listen. They might whine on DRS and the tyres a little, but in such a humorous way that you don't really mind. Plus I love Grace's Michael Schumacher Fashion Award. :p

ESPNF1 Solid stuff. But their football podcast crew is better (funnier and has a better camaraderie).

MiniDrivers Absolute gold. A must subscribe for all F1 lovers.

F1Weekly.com Hilarious intros. Covers a wide range of motor sport, though I only listen to the F1 section. :p

Fun with Cars Good fun. Not always the most informative, but entertaining.

Pitpass.com The latest Martin Brundle interview is a must listen. Delves a little bit more behind the scenes.

Red Bull Racing Podcast Quotes from both drivers and Christian after every race, plus insights from Buemi and DC. I love the intro - "Can I do donuts?" "Donuts will not be required, thank you." "I'll take that as a yes, then." :rotfl:

A few new podcasts here, so I am going to listen to them now. ;)

Racer's Edge (formerly Peter Windsor's Flying Lap)

Most satisfying podcast by far IMO, the combination of guests and Windsor's enthusiasm and knowledge wins.

Motorsport

Generally satisfying. Sometimes a bit pithy, doesn't come out enough.

James Allen's F1

Satisfying, but the "preview" portion is unnecessarily long IMO and the "commercial break" interruptions annoying. Segments aren't long enough IMO - one of the cool things about Windsor's podcasts are that he takes advantage of the "non-traditional" format the best; if you're going to offer something in new media, take advantage of it's strengths - you can go more in depth.

Autosport

I've only heard a couple of these? Short? Can't remember anything specific - doesn't seem to come out often at all......?

YMMV

You're welcome. I just love listening to opinion is all. At least if they aren't too biased (or if they admit they are biased and then make fun of it ala Formula1Blog's Todd love for Nick Heidfeld).
