Can anyone assist me with pictures of Piercarlo's crash helmet design up to around 1985/6? In particular I am looking for close up shots of him in F3 and F2 and early Osella days. Its to help my helmet painter with ideas, Im not after an exact replica but more a sytlised 70's recreation, so the early stuff is more of a guide. Many thanks in advance anyone who can help.

I think you find it has not change much at all your photo look the same as this 1977 Monaco F3 race from Motoring News of the day.

I am pretty sure that in his debut (Formula Italia, 1972) Ghinzani's helmet had the same colours of this picture, but only one small strip (not double strips), similar to Emerson Fittipaldi's design.

Another photo in Automobile Year 25th edition .page 193 show the name on the chin bar.1977.just like your photo.

Ah yes but there it looks like a signature, Im sure Ive seen it where it looked more blocky graphics. White stretched block letters. Thats the retro look Im after. On a modern Aria lid though... bound to cause some controversy like the 'Rush' film in fact. And rightly so...

Love that pic Graham, thanks for reminding me of it. But no this had Ghinzani stylilised and 'blocky' Im sure. A bit like Cevert had down the side.
