September 16 was the 50th anniversary of Graham Hill's win in the 1962 Italian Grand Prix driving BRM.

Going back to Trevor Taylor's car at the Belgium GP, I have just found a photo of the car being built at Cheshunt. It clearly shows the car having a 21 front and 24 rear. I am unable to publish the picture as it belongs to LAT. Anyone who has access, it is No. 12100. I dug it out as I went on a tour of the Lotus factories with the 750 Club yesterday. The building is now a gym. Part of our old workshop is a ladies and gents toilets. I suppose thats progress.

Cedtric, you know far more about Lotuses of that era than I do, but what do you mean by a 21 front? There are photographs of Trevor Taylor at Spa which clearly show 24 front suspension.

I meant the Brussels GP in Belgium not the Belgium GP. Trevor drove chassis 938 in this race which was originally built as a 21 with modified Triumph Herald uprights on the front. It was decided to fit a Climax V8 into this car so the back was cut off from the seat back rearwards. A 24 rear end was grafted on. As there were very few V8 engines available at this time a Climax FPF 4 cylinder was fitted. This was typical Lotus changing things all the time. At the Belgium GP Trevor drove a 24. This had magnesium front uprights.

The rear radius rods were fitted when Porsche continued testing after the 1962 season but the 804 didn't race with them.
