Silverstone 2012 Advice

I am thinking about going to my first ever grand prix this year, and the remaining options are:

£285 for: Farm Curve / Village A / Luffield / Vale

£225 for Silverstone Stand

£155 for general admission.

I would appreciate any advice about which would be the best option.

I've searched around and at the minute Village A and Farm seem my favourites, possibly leaning towards Village because the screen is located opposite?

It's very pricey though, with another £60 camping on top, I could save that by going for the Silverstone Stand, how would that be?

Farm Curve - good, lots going wide here

Village A - excellent if you can get in the end seat nearest Farm curve, then you can see loads. Interesting to see the different lines taken into the slow corners but if you're too far ver to the left you miss a sense of speed

Vale - have been in this area for 15 years (well, on club corner), you get to see loads of the track although nowadays you are quite far away from the track but still a great spot. And you can get on the track to see the podium at the end!

£225 for Silverstone Stand - Where is this?

£155 for general admission. Have GA'd for most of the last 20 years. Apart from no more club corner GA is so much better with the new track, before it really was £150 to stick your deck chair in the mud. Now there isn't quite as much mud! and loads more GA areas so it's not such a mad rush and a tight squeeze. 2 years ago I'd have warned newbies away from GA unless they were with someone who had been before. But now there's so many more GA places to watch it's a lot better and there's no more need getting up at 4am to get a good spot.

Camping doesn't have to be expensive. There are plenty of non-official campsites on the road in, do a search on the internet for anything from £10 to £30 for the weekend

I think the Silverstone Stand is the old pit lane? I think they call it national pit straight?

From what ive seen on the Silverstone Woodlands :

Formula 1 British Grand Prix
Open: 7am Wednesday 4th July
Close: Midday Monday 9th July

I used to go up on the Thursday when I did the camping thing.

For the race. I'd say woodcote area. Some concrete banking there as well. Also if you are there for 3 days, standing by the side of maggots is a must. Then catching a session on the Becketts grandstand. See the whole Becketts section plus a lot of the new track. A lot of action.

1st time in 10 years I'm not going this year. Lack of £££. 3 day tickets were £99 a few years ago plus the camping was cheaper. Mates are going to Belgium just to rub it in!

If your going for the 3 days I would advice walking the track on Friday and viewing from as many places as possible to work out what view you enjoy the most. Get up very early on Sunday and be in the queue well before 06:00 when the gates open, and then head as quickly as possible to your chosen area to stake your claim. The best spots fill up very quickly.

hello, like a few people here, this years Silverstone 2012 grand prix will be my first. (3 Day General Admission tickets)

It look slike the general concensus is do your home work and scout the track on the fri/saturday and get there early doors on Sun. Although it seems this year they have made some changes to the track lay out so there's better general admission viewing. Any idea as to where this will be? I.e. they have moved fences etc.

Theres plenty of advice as to where to go, although is there any advice as to places to avoid? I.e. over crowding/view obscured/no action etc?

Hi all, Can a seasoned veteran help me here please..!
I’ve got Platinum tickets at Club Grandstand for me and a mate. We’re staying in a hotel, so will be getting the park and ride from Six Fields Stadium (M1) for Sat/Sun, with driving to the track on Fri.. Could someone recommend to me what time to arrive on Friday? Also, the information pack says the P/R opens 4AM on Sat and 3AM on Sun (with first departures at 4.30am and 4am respectively).. So can any one suggest a good time I should get there each day? (Bearing in mind on Sun atleast I do have reserved seating).. Also how often do the busses leave each way?
