At the moment I don't have much time to follow motorsport apart from F1 and sometimes DTM, but I would like to know which is the series that has the most technical improvements from car to car. In other words, I don't like spec racing, I like the cars being very different to each other. Which motorsport competition offers that?

LeMans I think is the series for you then. It's all about the car, and the teams usually have very different ways of skinning the cat. It's not the most competitive series these days, but from a technical perspective i'd say it's much, much more interesting than F1 is.

There's only one category that I think of from the OPs description, Can-Am!

Time to watch some re-runs me thinks.
