I know that "Big Honking Fin" and "Big Honking Holes" are safety features in LMP series to prevent flip overs when car gets sideways, but could someone explain how should I translate the word "Honking" here, as I fail to understand the connection.

Well in my day they used to be known as honkin' & tonkin' in the less savoury parts of Soho. Hardly a safety feature.

honker = a large nose
big honking = extra extra large or huge something

so in context a huge hole and fin

Honk me, don't you honking honkers realise it's just a honking euphemism for another honking word?

I think "honking" is just a made-up adjective meaning "very big" or "impressively big" etc. I remember a few years ago the word "stonking" was used in a similar manner.

That young Miss Janet Straight Potter used to be Minister of Euphemisms I think - used to hear her broadcasts on the World Service - missed a lot of words though due to incoming.

It seems I owe you all an apology. I was trying to find an old friend on the Ronnie Scott Jazz memory area and I found a reference to Honkin holes and Tonkin fins and my wires have become slightly crossed.

My grandson's au pair has finally taken me in hand and instructed me to stop bothering all you young chaps. It seems that that Miss Janet Street was not as involved in ministering to the youth as I had feverishly imagined. She apparently was never involved with the Soho sisters, has never tried to play honkytonk and has had no experiences in racing or sportscars.

I cannot remember many facts but the memories are wonderful.

Yours insincerity,

Chunky Bob

I think Janet Street's Potter had a kiln in the back garden which honked when the chips were done...

I have doubts about your Au Pair's "in hand" technique if you were still able to type after she had finished...

Perhaps he dictated it...

Ah, nice to see you all again.

Well I was rather breathless for a while but never mind. My grandson is 18, big chap. He suggested I might enjoy the Leveson quiz show. I have seen a few episodes and must say that most of the chaps seem rather unhappy and have very few memories. Perhaps I could have a turn. Anyone know what the prize is?

Back to our thought for the day. Do you consider Mr Inox will appreciate our help?

The au pair says you are all imaginary like the rest of my friends.

Au revoir,

Lord Chunk
