Interesting first post; welcome to the forum. Can you offer us any further clues? For example, where did you get these photos, where/when were they taken, why is the number-plate taped over, did the tractor reverse into the car as part of an insurance scam... any other info you could provide in order for us to assist you?

I would been guesing but would it be a convertible of a Sprit Zagato? in the car in Austraila?
Wouldn't it be great for someone to set up a forum solely to discus the great make of Alfa Romeo's

Yes like that, but here on the Autosport forrum.

This weekend is Italian Conection Rally baced in & round Albury/Wodonga. Albury/Wodonga Alfa Romeo have given room for the competers to house the cars over night. Verious Italian car have entered. http://www.italianconnection.com.au/

Yes, AlfaBB is the specialist AR history website, although TNF has more expert posters and a better range of information.

Whatever this car is (and there are any number of 'Disco Volante' and 'Sportiva' replicas), the driver does seem to have missed a crucial apex somewhere. It is certainly nothing to do with the Giulietta Sprint Zagato (SZ) or Sprint Veloce Zagato - cf the twin-cam 1900-series engine visible in the photos.

I realise the photographs were posted without that knowledge but a little more decorum would be appropriate.

Seems a reasonable enough post. Without prompting the more stuffy members of the forum, would anyone care to provide more details of who/when/where this "well known member of the motor sport community" met his or her end? That might at least get us beyond conjecture.

If this is indeed the car which you are thinking of it is probably quite important to the gentleman who started the thread to establish what it is for his restoration business, many press reports of the fatal incident to which you refer describe the car as an Alfa Romeo Barchetta probably blissfully unaware that there are far more tributes, replicas, copies, etc than the real thing.

The unfortunate owner is reported to have owned a Wingfield C Type Replica so it is not beyond the bounds of possibility with respect to any belief or principle held by the deceased, that this may also be a replica. I suspect the registration for the purposes of an HPI or VOSA check would reveal all.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your response although it looked like the thread was going to be hijacked half way through.

I was asked by a friend if I had any idea what the car was as he had been sent the photo's of the car by a 3rd party.

We were unaware of the circumstances leading to the damage to the car and the sad loss of life until information within a couple of the reply to this thread pointed us in the right direction for an internet search.
