Today (May 27) is the 50th anniversary of Olivier Gendebien and Phil Hill's victory at the 1962 Nurburgring 1000 km. The winning car was Ferrari Dino 246 SP 0790. I'll have to dig that model out.

Another 50th anniversary...Twinny, maybe these should be merged into one thread?

Another reason for remembering that race, was a certain Scotsman debuting the tiny latest Lotus sports-racer, powered by a humble Ford 1500 motor with a newfangled cylinder head stuck on top of it...and leading the whole lot of exotic Prototypes for some considerable distance.

Wasn't it an 1100cc motor?

No 1500, the engine that was to appear in the Lotus Elan based on a 1500 Cortina block. The production Lotus Twin Cam engine very soon became 1600cc. of course.
