Best moment of the race: sauber making the right calls and getting a podium to boot.

Best drive: LH wins it for staying cool despite the usual pit stop blunder.

Worst drive: what is going on with button? Poor pace yet again.

Best overtake: LH on Alonso was maybe the most important but Rosberg taking Kimi was not only skillful but also ended up effectively meaning he got perez too. 2 for the price of 1

Drs/tyres: tyres were brilliant, more please pirelli! Kept the teams on their toes but still allowed drivers to push hard when required. DRS was awful, not required on this track

9 for me.

Rant: wish there were more overtaking outside the DRS zone.

Lewis, Grojean and Perez all superb. Very tense at the end with Hamilton.

Best moment: Hamilton passing Alonso (I don't care if it was DRS, Hamilton passing Alonso for the lead is always epic)

Best Drive: Hamilton, closely followed by Perez

Worst Drive: Button hands down when you consider his team mate won the race

Best Overtake: See best moment

DRS/Tyres: I'm not sure DRS was really needed. tyres were okay, Clearly there is still a lot of learning to be done

8/10

An 8 from me. The tyre strategy added a lot to this race instead of detracting as has been the trend with Pirelli rubber this season. DRS was a little too easy which took some shine off but aside from that it was a very good and interesting race!
I thought when Seb went two seconds up after two laps we were in for a dull afternoon but no! :D

I hold Canada to a higher standard as other races. Even though there was some action towards the end I rate this a 5.

I expect more from the Canadian GP.

A 3 and only because of Lewis' hunt at the end. The racing is so crap.

1/10 Yet again DRS ruined the race here. superb track, no need for such a lame system of fake racing.

A five because we saw some skilled overtakes outside the DRS zone. Missing five points because everybody was waiting until the DRS zone to pass and stay back for the rest of the lap.

Actually a great race overall, but this race just capitalize the dullness of DRS... man I hate it when I know what's gonna happen in the DRS-zone...

some great racing from alonso + vettel + hamilton.

and not sure the DRS was too much, it was the fall off on the tyres that allowed ppl to pass so easily on the straight.

Seven. I liked the result, especially podium, but it wasn't a classic. Hamilton deserved the win like no other driver this season. DRS didn't work, kind of.

People are going to rate this hiugher than it should be because of a few great bits of entertainment at the end... completely forgetting how boring it was in the middle part.

I found that DRS made overtaking way too easy so that was a disappointment to me. The race was boring in parts and exciting in others but to be honest maybe I'm being too critical as I had to watch it on Sky Go which kept buffering which didn't exactly heighten my enjoyment. I'll watch it back this week to see.

But how common is a GP with all out action on every lap?

Lewis' second stop lead to a very exciting chain of events. The racing before that was average. I don't really mind it like that though, slow burners are very exciting. China was outstanding this year yet the first 3rd of the race was just follow the leader.

I did enjoy the race but personally felt that there was no mystery with the Hamilton overtakes. It was a foregone conclusion that he would nail Alonso and Vettel in the DRS zone so there was no element of 'can he or can't he'.

Pretty uneventful for 50 laps then different strategies converge at the end and it goes nuts.

8/10 for me, Hamilton's victory was well deserved, awesome podiums for Perez and RG
Entertaining at times, but god, today DRS has been awful, not so by allowing easy passes on the long straight, but by making everyone wait until this part of the track to make significant overtakes, just awful :well:

Ferrari really gambled with their strategy  , FA said on spanish tv that near the end we was trying to minimize damage and let people pass as cleanly as possible, in order to not loose any more lap time and risk ending further back the grid... running such old tires was really uncharted territory for them, ended being 5 seconds per lap slower than Vettel's fastest :|

Realistically speaking DRS wasn't such a big factor here actually, it was more about the tyres.

I loved the Schumacher overtake on Kobayashi in the hairpin. One of the few no-DRS overtakes. Sad to see he got breezed by due to DRS.

I also disliked the 40 odd 1:18-1:19 laps. They should have lost considerable amount of fuel, thus go faster. Darn delta driving.

I think I won't remember this race in half a year.

Are the people rating this race highly, Hamilton fans by any chance? :drunk:

No it's obviously the Schumi fans! :rotfl:

Gave it 9/10. Okay probably highly inflated because I was overjoyed by McLaren getting their act together, but it was good nonetheless :)

DRS was needless however.

1. Yawnfest of the year. DRS provided drivers the ability to breeze past. Tyre management has always been important, but DRS meant that defending is impossible. Ferrari ****ed up, and I totally agree with Neale that Ferrari would have won if they pitted 1 lap after Lewis rather than the stupid decision to carry on. So, Ferrari's fault for carrying on, but what is the enjoyment in watching a car drive past another with a massive speed advantage in addition to tyre advantage. Without DRS, it would have been fascinating to watch Lewis try to overtake with fresh tyres, but no press the button to guarantee pass advantage.

When Vettel used DRS to breeze pass Lewis a few races past it was proclaimed a great overtake, why now this crying about DRS now?

DRS and tyres made overtaking too easy, and it was only really the last 20 laps or so where things got truly interesting. Before that, it was a little bit flat. 4 for me.

DRS zone needs to be addressed here badly. Shorten in quite a lot or move it to another point on the track. Passing down that straight is already perfectly possible without DRS. Putting the zone there deprives the opportunity to make another good overtaking spot elsewhere. It was way too easy to pass here. There were very few 'opportunites made'. It was usually just somebody flying by without any difficulty whatsoever. I still support the use of DRS, but they need to be smarter about its implementation.

8/10 overall. It was boring for quite a while but it got tense there near the end. If the exciting battle wasn't for the lead, I'd maybe have rated it a 7/10, but it was a pretty big battle between the top three drivers in the sport in the top three teams in the sport for the win. Lewis did great, Alonso lost an unfortunate 2nd place due to a bad(in hindsight) strategy gamble and Vettel and Red Bull were smart enough to realize their mistake and cut their losses with a 2nd pitstop. Grosjean and Perez on the podium(again) was great to see as well.

It may not have been the usual Montreal chaos race, but it was still entertaining.

Best moment of the race: Hamilton retaking the lead after his 2nd stop.

Best drive: Romain Grosjean kept himself in the right part of the circuit, gave himself space and clean air and looked after his rubber.

Worst drive: I can't choose between Jenson and Bruno

Best overtake: Massa Vs Rosberg Vs Perez.

Drs/tyres: tires today where durable more than usual! but still some drivers fell of the cliff...

I give a 8/10, that was some popcorn material! :)

Certainly it made LH's overtakes easy. Why weren't others overtaking Lewis just as easily?

Maybe F1 could modify DRS to stop it short of the overtake, eliminating the slingshot pass?

DRS made the overtakes easy, yes, but Alonso and Vettel at that point were 1 to 2 seconds a lap slower; they were going to be passed, DRS or not. Compare that with the Rosberg/Di Resta train where nobody really could make a move.

The middle part of the GP was bad, but the beginning and the end more than made up for it. I give it a solid 8. Another cracker of a race in Canada.

At least we had a real duel for the lead in Canada, which wasn't the case in Bahrain, China and Monaco to a certain extent.

Gave it an 8 because two thirds of the race was a bit boring comparable to Monaco a fortnight ago. Kind of wish Vettel put up more of a fight when Hamilton was about to pass him but Vettel didn't even try because he knew how bad his tyres were. Alonso put up a bit of a better fight than Vettel but ultimately had no answer to Hamiltons much better tyres. 2011 Canadian Grand Prix was much better barring the 2 hour red flag session its a shame Button couldn't make it work this year.

I think that everyone has missed the point here. All of this years races have been decided by one single component on the cars and that is the tyres! The tyres are so inconsistent that it does seem like a lucky dip and from comments made by Pirelli, it seems like that is what Bernie asked for. At no time in recent F1 history could a small team challenge the big factory teams until now. Why? Their tyres just seemed to perform better than all the others !!
Tyres have even made the engine out put look unimportant, the poor old engine fails to get a mention in race commentary, it's all TYRES! TYRES! TYRES! It's true that we have seen some of the most exciting racing for a long time and it was desperately needed because F1 was heading down the gurgler! What worries me is that maybe and I mean just maybe, this whole tyre issue has been contrived to save F1. If you have been watching F1 for awhile, you would agree that it was so boring that it made Sailing look exciting, the only possible overtaking was in the pits and after all the pit stops were over, we were back to the boring race again until the finish!
These tyres can not even be classed as a CONTROL tyre because even if you are on the super soft, that doesn't mean that it's the same as all the other super softs! F1 has certainly lost the entire plot, it has turned into open wheel NASCAR, just waiting for the "DEBRIS ON TRACK" flag to come in! To us purists, the last big leap in technology within F1 came with the introduction of CARBON FIBRE, it has been going down hill ever since but I must admit that it has got all the Wally's out there excited and watching F1, so Bernie, even at his age is as smart as ever!!
