I am researching on Ferrari 250LM but having a problem determining the color of one of David Piper's LMs, #8165.

It was the last LM produced by Ferrari and delivered to Scuderia Filipinetti in red. They raced it in 1966 Nürburgring 1000Km, but it was sold to Piper afterward.

Piper participated many local events with it in the second half of 1966, and it was still in red as a color picture shows it as #112 in British Eagle Trophy, Brands Hatch (Massini "Ferrari 250LM" p.120)

However, a better result followed as he and Mike Parkes won 1966 Paris 1000 Km in the #8165. Looking at a B&W picture of the car (Massini, p.69), I feel that it was NOT repainted at all because the car number circles on the nose and the door look to be exactly in the same size and location as it was at Brands Hatch.

Problem is that I haven't been able to locate one single color image to confirm whether it was in red or green in this event.

I really appreciate if anyone can help me on this. Thank You!

That Ferrari was red.

That's a little bit of a bald statement. Have you any evidence - or are you simply expressing your opinion?

Why is that ? Who says RSC is correct ? They have no photo !

The Ferrari was red , and I am not bold.

Bjorn,

I am not saying that RSC is correct or incorrect. Nor am I saying that avus35's reasoning is correct (although I think it is). I am simply asking what grounds you have for saying "The Ferrari was red" as you haven't given any explanation or justification.

OK Duncan , only trying to play hard to get . I was a bit surprised myself when I found out , but sure enough , a colour picture of Michel Bollee Copyright shows it is red.

In his book about the 1000 kms of Paris Bollée writes that the Ferrari was red. There are a couple of pictures of thar car but they are all b/w.
